Can't edit my own posts

Looks like I can’t edit posts that are too “old”? If I can say it like that. (Please don’t tell me this is an intended feature I wouldn’t like that)

Basically, I have this post I made in Help and Feedback > Creations Feedback Biomes Obby - Devlog (5 Biomes Left For Release)

And I can’t edit it, I can’t edit some “old” replies below too.

Here’s some images:

(post last edited on February 15, 2026 8:09 PM.)

There’s no edit button, I can’t find it. This happened today.

I believe this is because the last edit was too old or something like that, so the reproduction steps would be like this:
Create a post
Edit it (optional)
Wait minimum 5 days
You will not be able to edit again

(Again, I’m not sure!)

I can edit posts like this: [$] Feedback on my 1st cashgrab slop game - Survive Dynamic Face The Killer
The edit buttons are normal for that post. It was posted only 2 days ago.

Also, if this is an intended feature, let me know. Because as far as I remember, I could edit posts of mine that were older than the 5 days.

Expected behavior

You should be able to edit posts regardless of how many edits they had, or how old they were.
This would help me editing posts like Devlogs, where editing the post is really important to show your progress.

I was about to make a thread on this. I can’t edit replies/topics that are over 7 days old, this started happening a few days ago.

A lot of times I’ll send private messages to myself, typically as a more advanced “draft” system for longer posts, but I can’t edit any of those messages anymore.

And yeah this is pretty detrimental to any public resource sections.

This must be a pretty recent change, and having it be unannounced too? I wonder what made them think this was necessary

Perhaps use the internal Discourse API. There could definitely be a venerability there

Should be fixed for Help and Feedback > Creations Feedback now, you can edit the first post after 7 days still now if you are the thread poster.

We are limiting editability of posts in certain categories to better protect discussions, particularly for bug reports, feature requests and help & support threads this is really important.

Is editing going to be opened back up in any other categories? If not, can it at least be allowed in private messages if you’re the only person with access to the thread?

Could it at least be reopened for Private Messages?

I understand the need to protect bug reports but this still seems like a really strange way of going about it? There was way more applications of being able to use such a basic feature like the edit button indefinitely than just updating old bug reports and this isn’t really even a type of abuse I’ve seen a whole lot. Just seems like a weird solution to me more than anything.

If the goal is to stop people from editing all of their posts to something like “Delete this now I’m quitting forever!!” (which I have seen before) just limit the amount of times posts can be edited before it’s blocked to something like 2 or prevent people from editing two posts to have similar content (so if I edit two posts to be identical and say like “Delete this delete this delete this” it will instantly be blocked)

It seems like whenever there’s a problem on the forum, the solution is always to tighten some pre-existing setting, almost as if there’s hesitation to make deeper changes to the internal systems themselves. It’s why a lot of bug reports in Forum Help > Forum Bugs that would require actual changes to the forum’s code tend to go unanswered.

It just feels like instead of meaningfully addressing underlying issues, restrictions get tightened across the board. Kind of wish there was a dedicated team focused specifically on forum issues, rather than (seemingly) one person just adjusting permissions and limits instead of implementing proper fixes.

Hell, it was bad enough previously where you couldn’t even delete a PM if you accidentally sent it to someone or no longer needed assistance. And now we can’t even edit our own messages. :man_facepalming:

Appreciate the feedback and yes there are definitely other solutions that require more engineering investment.

We’ll keep monitoring the thread / other threads for feedback on the edit restrictions, so far there doesn’t seem to be much of any impact outside of the few people who posted here.

Any reason why i cant edit my post’s title anymore?

This is my post but it seems i am unable to edit the title of the post eventhough i previously could.

I used to edit the title with the current version number so users could see when a new update was released instead of having to press on the discussion each time, any reason as to why i cant edit the posts title anymore?

You are right, I didn’t realise now I can’t edit the title of my post I linked here

I’ll look into it, thanks for letting me know. I assume you can still edit the body of the first post right?

Aye! We still can change the body text!

Looks to be the same as the posts right above yours, so looking into it. Thanks.

Any news or updates? I am still unable to edit the title. It’s greyed out and I am unable to click on it or edit it, on mobile and on desktop.

I can’t edit my post title either, I keep the version updated in the title but can’t do that anymore. Do I need to keep creating posts for the same topic?

No, please don’t create new posts, we’ll change it so this is permitted again. Please allow a few days for this.
