Can't Import User-Owned Animations in a Group-Owned Experience

Currently, when accessing animations uploaded on your account, while in an experience that is owned by a group by you, results in the error message “Animation was not imported. You do not have ownership of animation with the selected ID.”

You are still able to import group-owned animations into user-account owned places just fine, however.

My group in case this is only occurring to my group:

Repro steps:

  • Upload an animation to your account
  • Attempt to import it into a group-owned experience
  • Should result in the above error message

Expected behavior

I expect to be able to import animations that I own in a group that I own’s experience.

Go to the creator hub, then the animations under your account, then the animation you want, then allow the group to use it

It shouldn’t be like that because I own the animations on my account.

It doesn’t make sense I can import owned group animations into places on my account but I can’t do the opposite.

That’s just simply how it is, alternatively you could reupload the animation underneath the group you own, otherwise you can’t use the animation in a group game

Hi there, as mentioned, this is currently by design of the current permission system and we don’t have plans to change that at this time.

Seems like a completely unneeded change that only makes trying to work on animations more difficult and also forces me to open a completely new place just to work on an animation that’s owned by me in a place owned by me.

Group asset of a group that I own = can import into a user place
Asset on my own account in a group place that I own = can’t import

Makes zero sense.
