Note: it’s not a 100% reproduction rate bug. Sometimes I am able to open the file by repeatedly trying to open the file. So I’m not totally sure what’s going on in the background here.

It doesn’t seem to be related to spaces in the filename, as the linked bug seems to share.
Here are some example place names that I’ve tried and gotten the bug on, to prove it’s not name related.

easy obby - horse mountain.rbxl
bees warm simulator.rbxl
horse simulator.rbxl
FOVSlider.rbxl
cart.rbxl

I’m having the same issue. If there is a space anywhere in the full path (not just in the file name itself) the file won’t open and I get the error:

“We could not open the place “C:/WINDOWS/system32/“C:/Test Space/SavedPlace.rbxl””. Cannot open place file for reading.: iostream stream error”.

But if I edit the path and remove all spaces the file open.

Hello!

I am also having this iostream stream error.
I’m working in Team Edit mode by myself. The steps I take that cause this are

  1. File > Download a Copy
  2. Save file to local drive (not a cloud) as .rbxl
  3. Go to File > Open from File and select the .rbxl I just saved
This is where I get the error. I have been able to do this for months - this is how I am usually able to save a .rbxlx.

I have tried closing the place I had open and then trying to open the .rbxl, but I still encounter an iostream stream error - granted I have another place open when I’m doing this.
I thought this might be because Windows was trying to backup the file (when Status in Windows Explorer changes to the rotating blue arrow) but this happens even after the status has changed to a green checkmark. And it turns out, if I close out of Studio completely, I can open the file fine, even if the status is the blue arrow. So this may be specific to saving a copy and trying to open that copy while that original place is still open? But this used to work.
Thanks to OP for posting and to Roblox for your time reviewing

I just had this error a lot tonight, and eventually it worked after much frustration, without changing filename.

So it’s not necessarily the spaces!
