Can't rename Model that is a value in Player.Character

game.Players.Player1.Character=workspace.Dummy workspace.Dummy.Name='test'

If we could rename our characters as well as pseudo-characters that would be nice. I’d rather not use a glitchy-position BillboardGui or weld a fake Model-with-a-head to the Head for a mere renaming of a character.

Pretty sure that’s a relic from an attempt to prevent people from changing players’ character names, which is no longer relevant because we can just remove the whole leaderboard and change anyone’s name to anything within the game. Would be nice if it was removed.

Like, in order to rename a person’s character for roleplay purposes I have to jump through hoops and it completely misses the point of all the recent humanoid name distance updates from a week ago, lol

Set Player.Character to nil for a moment before changing?

That triggers the auto respawn last time I checked.

EDIT: Wrong

That triggers the auto respawn last time I checked.[/quote]

No – setting to nil doesn’t auto-respawn. You have to use :LoadCharacter(), unless you’re referring to after setting it to nil and using :LoadCharacter() you get double hats, bodycolors, etc.
