Certain OFFICIAL Ad Image Unit/Main Portal Template Models from Toolbox Causing Asset Permission Issues when Publishing Roblox Experience

Asset Error

It has come to my attention, within the past week or so, that certain “Ad Image Unit” or “Main Portal” in-game ad model instances officially maintained by Roblox that you can get from Roblox Studio’s Toolbox are currently causing asset permission issues when publishing your game files in Roblox Studio. You may get a warning from Studio that you need to have the creator’s permission to use some of the assets associated with those models, and when you try to ask for permission, the request automatically fails from what I speculate to be the creator name being blank/unavailable.

I tried deleting them and re-inserting them into my game in case a “linked” patch from Roblox was supposed to resolve the issue but some hiccup on my end is preventing that from happening, but I seem to have the same continuing issues with them, so it is not on my end. While it doesn’t affect updating my game aside from the assets associated with those specific models, it is still a very annoying issue, given that the models are officially maintained by Roblox.

Expected behavior

The Ad Image Unit models/Main Portal instances shouldn’t have asset access issues, as those assets, from what I understand, should be publicly accessible to all Roblox creators.

I have deduced this because any game files of mine publish just fine without those permission issues if the Ad Unit/Main Portal models are removed from the game files entirely.

Hi @Arborshop ! We are currently working on a fix for this. What happens when you click “Publish without Permissions” on the “You cannot grant permissions for some assets” screen? Does it block you with an error message?

Hi all, I’ve talked with other developers who are experiencing this same bug and it looks like this shouldn’t block you from continuing with publishing your game. This issue looks to only be with the UI where it is displaying more assetIds than it should. Other than that, the functionality should be the same as it was before this issue. We have a fix on the way. Please let us know if you are experiencing asset loading issues when you continue with publishing.

Good evening. When I publish without those permissions, it doesn’t reply with any error messages in the console, but the game still publishes as expected, which is great news. I just need to be watching it whenever I have other legit assets added that require the permission, etc.

Hi, we just rollout a fix, pls let us know if you still saw this UI bug.
