A friend of mine has their account’s chat region locked to Vietnam, because their account is apparently located in Vietnam despite registering from an American address and playing on an American internet for years. They contacted VNG and Roblox for years, requesting them to change their account’s location.
Though, when they contacted VNG in partnership with Roblox, they received the following response:
Roblox - VNG will automatically detect and update your regional location. We do not collect precise geolocation data and instead rely on general regional location over a period of time.

After quite a while, their account still hasn’t been re-assigned to their respective location, which is the US. When they contacted Roblox VNG support again through the official Roblox support form, they received this following response:
We are not able to process your request as your Roblox account is subject to terms and conditions in Vietnam. You will need to create a new account on Roblox.com.
An unfortunate answer would be to create a new account. Though, we are wondering if there’s any way for them to still be able to play on their Roblox account without being region locked. We are hoping that Roblox may have some capability to make reconciliations with this. Players should be able to choose to be subjected to their own nation’s policies .
In addition, their account was forcibly migrated to Roblox VNG without their consent. They couldn’t access their account on the international app, so they had to create a Vietnamese Apple account to download localized Roblox app.
This poses security risks to Roblox VNG and communications in the fatherland as foreigners may not be able to switch their accounts back to their proper location. My friend’s chatting privileges are basically as good as unverified now as they connect to American servers which has little to no Roblox VNG players, but they can hardly communicate in Vietnamese.
i never played in bahrain or anything, so why is my account location in bahrain? i am afraid all of my progress in roblox studio will be gone if bahrain bans roblox… (I am in US btw)

I have never used a VPN. and it was united states, but now its bahrain. changed a few months ago. and i already researched so much to see if i can change it. i contacted them several times too.
I don’t have any evidence that i am in the US EXECPT, i purchased something on roblox and roblox sent me a email showing the purchase. on the purchase it shows exactly the location the purchase was made. so i might be able to show that
Idk I’m kinda late, but I have the exact problem, I was visiting Vietnam one day, downloaded THIS exact version, and when I was back I cannot return my region- now I can’t talk to people or even friends (even if they are trusted connection they cannot talk to me because he is from a different region) and MANY MANY other stuff that might ruin my account- basically because they made it insta region switch INSTEAD of verifying your actual location- support as always does nothing about it and telling you to create a new account WHILE you have all the statistics, money Purchases and other stuff like badges- limited items. Support knows that they are able to help but they just simply doesn’t do anything and just telling you the copy pasted text that takes DAYS or even WEEKS to wait for their useless reply.
To be honest though, I don’t think they can. The support team has the power, but whether you have strong evidence or not, it is still against their policy (I think). The company behind publishing Roblox in Vietnam is azz. I remember that VNG is notoriously known for making users transferring their Int’l PUBG account and then locking them into Vietnamese servers.
