Character customization - one mesh or a couple

In the past few days I’ve been working on making a skinnedmesh character for my game, and also want to add character customization to it. Not only for clothes, but also for face elements (limbs?), like games outside of the platform do.

The problem is that I don’t know if they are using a couple of meshes or one mesh, and if they are using one mesh, I am not sure if it’s possible on Roblox.

Would it be possible with one mesh somehow, or would I have to use a couple of meshes? And if I will have to use a couple of meshes, what are some good ways to have good deformation?

let’s act like I don’t know the answer to this, lol, but it’s worth asking anyway! might just create a couple of head types and let the player choose between them.
