I had a question about a chat system I’m thinking of using and wanted to make sure it wouldn’t create any user safety concerns.
my game is a social deduction game where, at the start of each match, every player is assigned a developer-created disguise with a different name. during the match, players only know each other by these disguise names, so communication is a core part of the gameplay.
outside of a match, the in-game chat is completely hidden. once the match starts and everyone has been given a disguise, the chat becomes visible for the duration of the round. when the match ends and disguises are removed, the chat is hidden again.
all messages would still go through roblox’s normal text filtering and moderation.
players who meet roblox’s chat eligibility requirements would be able to send messages.
players who don’t meet roblox’s chat eligibility requirements would never be able to send messages. they would only be able to read the filtered messages that eligible players send during the active match.
the goal isn’t to bypass roblox’s chat restrictions at all. players who aren’t chat eligible still couldn’t communicate in any way, they would only be reading messages that have already been filtered by roblox while everyone is disguised during the round.
would allowing non-chat-eligible players to view filtered in-game chat during an active match, while still preventing them from sending messages or bypassing roblox’s chat eligibility requirements, raise any user safety concerns, or would this be considered okay?
