Check Out This New Educational Game About Phonetics

So I’ve just made a game about the phonetic transcriptions of words.

It’s sort of similar to those “Guess this image”, “Guess this emoji-combo meaning”, except this one teaches you all about PHONETICS! I haven’t seen any game that delves into it in this manner, so I thought it might’ve been a fun twist on teaching phonetics, as I’m certain that learning it in the ol’ academic method is extremely boring.

In a time where everyone is busy repeating “67” and all the other… stuff… that many people unlike myself understand! I’ve decided to share the gift of knowledge through this educational experience.

In all seriousness, please do leave feedback/report bugs. Criticize me as harshly as your heart desires, then criticize me once more! I am well-prepared.

Let me know if you actually learned anything new, or if you might have a better idea as to how I can improve the experience ultimately.

If you’ve enjoyed the game, tell me what you liked most about it!

Can’t wait to hear from you all (that’s if anyone’s reading this post at all)!

hey P0L0H, thanks for submitting this, it really stood out. a genuinely original learning game built around ipa and vocabulary. i like that it’s fast.. visuals are very basic and new players could use more ui guidance, but the core idea is strong and replayable.

Thank you for the kind words.

There seems to be a general lack of desire for learning in our modern times- it is quite unfortunate. Nonetheless, if any student that’s going through Phonology courses ever wants to learn transcribing words phonemically, I will make sure that my game remains open & playable for everyone!

Not quite sure how much more guidance I can offer- I already present players with a board containing IPA symbols, free skips & hints that can be earned over time, and a definition below each phonetic transcription. This makes guessing the word as simple as possible.

I don’t think the problem lies in difficulty, but rather in how patient players are when it comes to learning. I make this deduction knowing that players mostly either leave very early or leave extremely progressed into the game. So I think the general consensus that learning experiences are boring has subconsciously been attributed to my own without the attempt of delving into it with an open-mind being made.

Anyhow, as I’ve said- the game is open for everyone to enjoy. Thank you once more for your review!

I just saw your stream playing the game! I left a comment on it.
