I’m trying to set up a shower handle, and I added a little tip to the end to make it “fancier” and parented and welded it to the handle. When I try to drag the handle, it works but when I drag the tip it shows the hand icon but when I click it doesn’t do anything

here’s the hierarchy if you didn’t see btw
HI @wolfscouthello1,
The problem is in how you’ve set up your hierarchy.
A DragDetector will move it’s parent, which can be either a part or a model.
In your case, the parent of the DragDetector is the Knob and you can only click and drag Knob.
Tip is a sibling of DragDetector and so will not drag when clicked.
I’m not sure why you see the different cursor over the tip. I think that since Tip is a child of Knob, it’s considered part of the possible select even though the DragDetector policy is not to move it. I understand how that could be confusing.
Nonetheless, this is easy to fix.
If the parent of the DragDetector is a Model, not a part, then you can click and drag any part in the model.
So changing to this should solve your problem:
Handle(Model)
DragDetector
Knob(Part)
Tip(Part)
Now you an click and drag any part below the Handle model
Please write back and let me know if this fixes your issue so I can close out this bug! ![]()
Hello, sorry for the late response, I was out at the time.
This unfortunately still doesn’t fix the problem. When I drag the tip, the cursor now becomes the dragging icon, but it still doesn’t move.
This is because the force is being applied to the tip which is unanchored, but the “Knob” part is anchored to keep it in place.
However, it still updates the “DragFrame” property of the DragDetector.
The solution I will use instead is to make an invisible part around both of them and weld them to said part.
Still, thank you for the help.
Then why not just also anchor the tip? It will travel with the know since they are welded together..
At any rate I will close this bug since DragDetectors are working as expected.
Attached is an rbxl with two models. One has two anchored parts, one has two unanchored parts.
In both cases, you can drag both parts.
But yeah, if the parent is anchored, and the child is welded to it, you’re not going to be able to move the child no matter what you do.
