Choosing the Default Leaderboard Time Sort (Clarified)

This feature is simply to allow the choosing of which time sort will be the default view for your game’s points leaderboards.

My reasoning behind this comes from a recent message related to a game I have been working on.

Although it may likely be a young player who has no grasp over how leaderboards work and he might appear insignificant when I could be targeting more advanced players, he or she is the target audience of Roblox and, consequently, is similar to the majority of the users on the site. If my game were to get popular, I have no doubt that there would be a lot more players with this complaint. I want my players happy. The greatest solution I can come up with (other than an explanation none of them will read) is to change the default time sort.[/spoiler]

What do you mean Game leaderboard? You mean the points leaderboard on a game page on the site? You want it to default to Today?

On a side note, what we have to show is your ranking among friends. That usually solves a lot of issues.

Yes, I do mean the points leaderboard. Specifically the one on at the bottom of a game’s page, tabbed with Recommendations, Games, and Comments. It defaults to ‘Past Week’, where I do not believe this is fitting for all cases. My suggestion is to allow a developer to choose whether it defaults to ‘Today’, ‘Past Week’, ‘Past Month’, or ‘All Time’ specifically for ONLY their game, not for the whole site.

Showing ranking amongst friends sounds cool and could work, but I believe that would decrease the competitiveness of new users that only have a few friends. The way players get competitive with it is one of my favorite features of the leaderboard so far.

One of the points of Corecii’s idea is to let the owner of the game choose if your going to count “points” “Cash” etc to be the main counter to see how good you are.

Like i got 10 Cash and 20 Points and i want Points to choose how far up your on the leaderboard, not Cash. depending on witch stats you put in.
