The Roblox claims system is being blatantly abused to submit false or incoherent copyright claims on basic geometric shapes and other unoriginal content. This undermines legitimate content ownership, stifles creative freedom, and clogs the moderation system with baseless disputes.
Simple items, being uploaded in the forms of shapes, are being used as placeholders to file DMCAs against other creators, falsely claiming ownership of simple shapes and objects.
All information will be given in a private message.
I’ve made posts before regarding Dynamic Heads that exploit invisibility, but I don’t support items being removed through false claims like this. This situation needs proper investigation. @frogprinxe
Expected behavior
Roblox needs to remove these fictitious claims and remove the offenders access from the Claims tool.
Overall, original content should not be considered as simple objects such as spheres, half cut cylinders, etc.
Hopefully ROBLOX doesn’t just take action against them, but also work toward a permanent fix for something like this. Sorry this happened to you as well, I hope the mentioned individuals are held accountable.
If you could please point out which part of my post or which section you considered as a personal attack, I will adjust it.
I purposefully cleansed this post of any bad mouthing of his character, this is legitimately only about things he has claimed which are not in his rights to do.
I’d argue this isn’t personal, as it’s more than OP that has been affected. This is a genuine issue being exploited and needs recognition rather than being brushed off as simple drama. Not to mention, this is an unnecessary load on OP and other developers, having to deal with all the DMCAs that are all unfounded. Also, I feel as though OP is raising awareness on this issue, as they did mention ROBLOX staff and opened this up to other Robloxians via devforum, in which case I believe saying it should be moved to a private message is inappropriate and dismissive.
1.2 Mentioning users or games who you believe may be violating the Roblox Terms of Use counts as a personal attack. Do not bring disputes, accusations of scamming, etc. to the Developer Forum; no naming-and-shaming.
I recognize that’s what the rules state, and if that’s how ROBLOX Staff decides to rule here then so be it, however, I do not believe that it is okay to be entirely dismissive on the grounds that it’s raising awareness to a bigger issue. Not to mention, OP has replied previously to other things of the same issue - this may be something ROBLOX is disregarding at the moment, and again I will double down on my belief that opening this up to Robloxians across the devforum is an appropriate usage of the devforum, as it’s a genuine issue. And just because he mentioned a specific instance doesn’t mean he was ‘naming-and-shaming,’ he was backing up his claim.
Of course! Honestly, ROBLOX needs to improve their forms of moderation in all aspects, and I’ll stand by that completely. Especially since there’s simply no excuse for this.
After reviewing, I released a few claims that I found to be unfounded or only slightly similar. However, I’ve decided to continue the process for the ones I’m confident about, as I still believe my rights are being violated with those bundles.
Other than that, if they believe those claims are also unjustified, I kindly ask them to escalate the matter to Roblox. There’s already a system in place specifically designed for this, and they should be using it. Wishing everyone a good day.
Appreciate the response but let’s be clear here. You’ve openly admitted that some of these DMCA claims were unfounded or only “slightly similar.” That alone confirms what everyone’s been saying, you’ve been filing claims without proper basis, knowing full well that at least a portion of them wouldn’t hold up.
This isn’t a minor misunderstanding. Submitting false or baseless DMCAs is a serious misuse of the system and it undermines creators who rely on that system for actual protection of their work.
If you’re confident about certain claims, by all means follow the proper process. But the fact that you’ve admitted to knowingly submitting weak or baseless claims reflects exactly why this system is being abused and why action needs to be taken on your permissions to send out claims.
In order for us to further look into your issue, can you help share the details and additional information as I don’t see a Private message enclosed. Thanks
