ClearlyDev is the largest independent Roblox developer marketplace, built for creators and studios to buy and sell high-quality assets. With 30,000+ creations uploaded, $2.5M+ paid to creators, and 15,000+ developers already signed up, we’re proud to support the Roblox development community at scale.
Is this against some or a multitude of roblox rules?
Or am I thinking of something else, I mean it’s not new the concept of exchanging assets between individuals with irl money but I’m not sure I would brag about it on a roblox moderated forum, but hey that’s just me
I totally understand your concern! To clarify, what we’re doing doesn’t go against Roblox’s rules. When you create something, it’s your original work and copyright, so you’re free to decide how you want to share or license it outside of Roblox.
Our platform is designed to support developers by providing access to high-quality assets that help them build games faster and more efficiently. At the same time, we’re helping grow the Roblox developer ecosystem by encouraging new creators to join the platform and bring their ideas to life.
I do think this might violate the Terms of Use for Creators:
Where Creator’s Virtual Content is sold or otherwise provided to a User, Creator agrees that, pursuant to the rights granted to Roblox herein and regardless of whether the Virtual Content was sold or provided by Creator to the User, Roblox may allow the User to continue to access and use such Virtual Content indefinitely (in accordance with and subject to the Roblox Terms) even if the Virtual Content is no longer otherwise accessible on the Services.
ROBLOX definitely can’t guarantee that the Virtual Content will remain accessible to the user if your platform shuts down, so I don’t think they’ll take kindly to this.
There are a bunch of reasons why selling on ClearlyDev makes more sense than the Toolbox: lower fees, faster payouts (7 days instead of 30), and every product is moderated so your work sits alongside other high-quality creations. We also give you better tools to promote your assets, clear categories so customers can actually find them, and more payment options to make it easier for buyers everywhere.
Good point, but there’s a key difference here. Roblox’s Virtual Content refers to in-platform items (like UGC, avatar items, passes, etc.) that Roblox guarantees access to. On ClearlyDev, creators aren’t selling “Virtual Content” through Roblox — they’re selling their own IP (assets, models, scripts) as files that can be used inside Roblox Studio. Once a buyer downloads it, they own the file and can use it forever.
Our RBXMs are not stored in any public Firebase bucket. All files are kept secure in private storage with strict access controls in place. Security and proper handling of developer content is a top priority for us.
I’ve always been a bit cautious about publishing scripts or models created by third parties, mainly because I’ve seen cases where things went wrong. For example, when Booga Booga was uncopylocked, some people downloaded it, made minor changes, and re-uploaded it to their own communities. Those uploads were later taken down and the accounts involved were banned (deleted) for copyright violations.
Because of that, I’m curious about the risk when purchasing a pre-made game from ClearlyDev that includes scripts and models. If multiple buyers download the same package and publish versions with small modifications, what prevents Roblox from flagging those uploads as stolen content? How does Roblox distinguish legitimate licensed use from unauthorized re-uploads in situations like this?
