Client/Server MDI for Play Solo tanks framerate after 4 playtests

With “Enable Client/Server MDI for Play Solo” enabled (Studio Setting), Studio’s framerate degrades permanently after the 4th Play/Stop cycle and stays degraded until Studio is restarted. Disabling the setting fixes it entirely

I’ve seen a few other people with the same issue since the new Server tab was added, and turning off the Client/Server MDI setting fixed it for them too.

I also found that after the 4th Play/Stop cycle, Studio’s 1ms timer resolution request to Windows just isn’t there anymore, so Windows drops back to the default 15.6ms. Checked this with powercfg /energy. Studio shows up under Platform Timer Resolution when it’s fresh, then it’s gone after 4 cycles, even though the process is still running.

My Specs: Windows 11, 9800x3D, 4070ti, 32 GB DDR5

100% reproducible, we were also experiencing Studio stutter and disabling this fixed it completely. Options like this shouldn’t come enabled by default as it is impossible to find the cause of the problem it creates. We spent hours analyzing the microprofiler to no avail.

Hi vmexec,

Are you running on Windows as well?

Yeah. Windows 11. Studio is on Version 0.737.0.7371584. This also happened to other developers in our studio. Disabling the option was our only choice.
