Closing game menu with ESC button removes ROBLOX Core UI elements

After the last ROBLOX update, if I use ESC button to open/close menu, the UI elements in top left corner (for menu, chat, microphone) disappear.
You can see these elements in the screenshot right now, when I have the menu opened:

When I close the menu, the elements simply disappear:

If I close the menu by clicking the UI element instead of pressing ESC, the UI elements remain:

This has partly something to do with the new update, also it says this when I join the game:

It shouldn’t even be a novelty that you can use ESC button to trigger the menu, but for some reason this bug started appearing along with this new message.

Expected behavior

Pressing the ESC button opens and closes the menu, with the UI elements remaining in place

this is an intended feature which is available in a specific public testing channel. better ask roblox staff why this was even implemented in the first place.

i might be really really wrong on this though.

The bug seems like the TopbarInset is not updated when the buttons are hidden; the buttons themselves being hidden is intentional, however.

I’m having the same issue except I can’t see or send chat messages. Can anyone confirm if thats related? I don’t want to accidentally make a duplicate bug report.

The Roblox topbar is gone. When I open the ESC menu, it appears again. Is this a bug or a feature? Any way to turn this off, either by me (for just me), or by the experience creator (for everyone)? For some games this could be bad (like in the example attached), because they make GUIs that match the core GUI style.

The voice chat beta text is still there so if it’s a feature it’s buggy.

From a few posts I’ve seen today, the issues with the TopbarInset only seem to be happening to those who have the VC beta badge. Are you still having problems with the TopbarInset?

The issue here is not to do with the UI hiding, as that’s just a new feature. There seems to be two other problems I can see:

  • The TopbarInset is not updating properly for those with the VC beta badge
  • The UI does not hide itself when clicked on, only when ESC is pressed.

Sorry for the small bump.

This happened to me, although, I am not complaining since this helps my old recreation look better.

I believe this is intentional – the message is saying that the topbar elements aren’t going to be visible anymore, so you will now need to use ESC to open and close the menu (which you always could, but now it’s the only way).

It is weird that they’re appearing again though.

Is there any fast flag to disable this? Using voice chat with disappearing top bar is incredibly uncomfortable.

I want to disable this, it gets annoying.

Fixed as of the last few updates for me. If anyone else is still experiencing this, I guess try waiting for the update to rollout on your device.

Thanks for reporting the issue is no longer reproducible
