Collision groups button not working

Hello!

I have a problem where on the new roblox studio, I have added the collision groups button to a custom tab I made. What happens is when I click on it, it shows it’s enabled, but the collision groups editor thing isn’t showing up and I need it. It used to work, but now it’s not working. I have tried removing it and adding it. I have also tried reinstalling Roblox Studio. I don’t know why this is happening.

If you don’t have an idea but could let me know if yours pops up, please let me know!

Is this a plugin? I’m not entirely sure what you’re trying to make could you provide any other details and or screenshots?

If it is a plugin, what have you done to enable the UI Visibility?

Nevermind I just realized this is most likely talking about the new roblox UI system, my bad.

Is the widget docked with another? (like Workspace, Properties, Toolbox) Did you try Window > Reset Layout then a Studio restart?

Yeah it’s in the new Roblox UI system. I added it to a personal tab because it got removed from the original model tab for the new Roblox UI

I’ve tried it 3 times now, and it hasn’t worked. I’m not sure why when I click on collision groups nothing pops up. Let me know if it pops up for you?

I made a custom tab with just the collision groups editor button and it pops up. Does the editor show for you when you try Window > 3D > Collision Groups? Does the editor work in the old UI?

I just tried Window > 3D > Collision Groups and it still didn’t pop up for me. How would I get into the old UI? It used to work for me before the Studio update but now it doesn’t.

File > Beta Features, uncheck “Next Gen Studio Preview”, and restart Studio.

Okay I did that. So this is weird, it’s still not popping up even in the old UI. I don’t know what to do and I’m stressing on this.

When you reinstalled Studio, did you try deleting the folder at %localappdata%/Roblox? (this will delete the client too) Maybe there’s some widget data that remains after an uninstall through system settings.

It won’t even let me uninstall Roblox Studio for some reason on my PC…

I just click uninstall, it does like a quick loading thing, then nothing happens. It’s just still there for some reason.

What’s weird is when I try to delete the app button on my screen instead, it says file is no longer located in blah blah blah. So that’s weird..

This makes more sense now, the uninstaller is probably pointing to an older deleted version. I had this issue with a few different programs. If the “no longer located” popup has an option to remove it from the list, do it. It can cause the same problem later if it survives a reinstall. Delete the folder I mentioned earlier and reinstall Studio.

Alright I just deleted the folder that said “Roblox” by copying and pasting what you said. Will try seeing what happens if I reinstall and such.

Well, I deleted Roblox and Roblox Studio, reinstalled both, and then tested out collision groups again, and still the same issue. Also proof it all got reinstalled is because I lost my studio UI data and scripts I was editing.

Studio prompts you about saving script changes when you close it. You had to have been saving to a recovery file for it to be deleted with the folder or saving somewhere else inside that folder. If you recycled the old folder, you can move it to the Desktop and move the recovery files inside it (/Roblox/RobloxStudio/AutoSaves/) to the same location in the new one to get them back.

Are you on Windows 11? Do you use multiple displays or are there multiple desktops in Windows’ Task View? (by default, it’s in the taskbar by the search)

Yes I’m on Windows 11. Now that I think about it, I have recently added a new monitor to my setup and that could be causing it. Though I have tried disconnecting the monitor and trying but that didn’t work. I have 3 monitors currently. Laptop, and 2 connected monitors both connected through HDMI.

Holy crap I got it!

I asked chat GPT what to do, and it came up with this solution:

:wrench: Method 1: Bring the window back with keyboard tricks

  1. Click Model → Collision Groups (so it “opens” the missing window).
  2. Now press Alt + Space (this opens the window control menu for the last focused floating widget).
  3. Press M (for “Move”).
  4. Use your arrow keys to move it back onto the visible screen or move your mouse until it appears. Sometimes you need to hold an arrow key for a few seconds if it’s really far off-screen. This works because the widget is a real floating window, not just part of Studio’s UI.

Thank you so much for your help and time though!!! I really appreciate it!! Looks like the problem was that it was off screen or something.
