Is there a source for this? That seems like a pretty insane claim to make that has a lot of implications (the Explorer, for one, is a Luau plugin, which would mean in order for these to be SVG means they are either hiding from us some super awesome SVG UI instance developers have been wanting for years or are magically baking these into a PNG).

They get baked to PNGs before ever getting to Lua plugins, but the folder is called studio-svg-textures for a reason.
Regardless, ImageColor is a thing, and they could easily bake the textures as pure white icons, then use the property to recolor them to any color they want.

I am pretty sure they were just talking about the folders in the asset manger itself, not the folder instance
but it is the closest confirmation of colored folders by a staff member so maybe the folder instance will one day get its colored properties

We can only hope.
I’d be rather confused if we got colored folders in asset manager, before explorer. Colored folders is a long waiting feature to be added, and I haven’t seen once somebody ask for colored folders in asset manager before you.
Also I’m guessing that under the hood of asset manager, it is actually using instances. Adding colored folders to asset manager would also mean we’d get colored folders in explorer in same update (high hopes).
