Mr. Robert (@GeneralRelish), if going through 7,000+ negative feedbacks feels too much, I’ll drop a shorter take here, even though I doubt you’ll read it.
We really don’t need this update, no one has ever asked for it. Dynamic 3D versions of 2D faces look awful right now. At the very least, this feels like it was released and forced way too early. Completely removing the option to use 2D faces is extremely disgraceful.
If 3D faces are going to stay, then at least make them optional, not something forced on everyone. Hiring/commissioning actual artists could be a better move, “Kestrel” was an great option, after some examples we have seen, much better than this AI slop.
Take a look by yourself at well known third-party trading site. Go to the value changes section - you’ll see what’s happening with your own eyelids.
Let’s take for example, my beloved “Face with Tongue” (previously “Yum!”). Dropped more than 37.78% in trading value. That’s almost half lost, right after this announcement. Sure, some players panic sold or traded their items away, but still - who actually wants a 3D dynamic face? No one, the whole appeal was that they were 2D. They had history, jokes around, APPEAL, and that classic feel. That’s the problem to both sides (Trading Economy vs. Users outside of it).
We got that your company wants to make more money off this update, but honestly, it’s not going to work. $RBLX has already dropped over the past six months, from around $130 to $55. On the day this update was announced, it was at $75. I think that speaks for itself.
Let us keep classic 2D faces and heads. Again, no one asked for this update, and no one asked for classic faces to go off-sale, especially limited ones.
People were already expressing themselves just fine with unique outfits, so this reasoning just feels like it was pulled out of thin air… There was no need for this “Metaverse/AI Slop” direction.
Summary: trading economy is suffering, avatars look horrible, $RBLX is down, over 7,000 negative feedback comments under the main thread about this change, with replies being silenced by mods. ![]()
