Compression of Studio Save Files (.rbxl, .rbxmx, etc)

(Brought up at RDC)

As a Roblox Developer, it is currently difficult to store Roblox Save files in a space efficient format, because Roblox stores most instances in xml or other markup varieties in some instances.
Place files of any significant size can balloon above 10 Megabytes fairly easily. This adds up and for developers who work frequently, we can have hard drives filled up exclusively by Roblox Saves.

To solve this, I am requesting that we are given the option to store Roblox saves in a more compressed lossless format.

Are you by any chance requesting this https://blog.roblox.com/2013/08/binary-file-format-cuts-studio-load-save-and-upload-times/ ?

rbxl and rbxm files are not in XML, while rbxlx and rbxmx files are in XML :slightly_smiling_face:

Yeah, that’s why I said some

Generally, asking for better compression. Just using binary rather than markup is I guess one solution
