Hey. I haven’t been using game notifications since the “Game Update Notifications” relating to experiences got removed and was replaced by “Experience Notifications”, which might seem a long time ago now for those that use the new system, so this might seem like an obvious answer to some. However, since I am pretty inexperienced are we still allowed to send notifications relating to game updates using the new “Experience Notifications” or would that be classed as spam or advertisement? Because in the provided documentation, it says:
“Notifications should be personalized to the receiver and should be based on in‑experience activity that’s specifically relevant to the user. Inversely, notifications should not be of a generic, advertising nature.”
and it specifically references here:
“Ideally, notifications should also alert users of something they can take immediate action on. Avoid purely informational notifications that do not prompt a direct response or action.”
So to simply notify of a game update, it requires going down the path of advertisement instead? I’m asking this because I am pretty sure I have seen game updates relating to experiences that I have been following recently. I am not sure whether this is still allowed or not or whether this would be classed as spam or advertisement instead of it being personal to the user? I would like to know your thoughts on this. Is this just me overlooking the documentation? Assistance would be appreciated.
