Consistent numbers of players across all web pages

Can we please get some sort of consistency with the number of players playing a game? Some pages display only players that are playing on your platform, and some display the number of players on every platform.

It makes no sense that the “Recently played” section on your home page displays every user, but as soon as you click “See all” it only displays the users on your platform.

If a game is enabled on your device, you should always be able to see the total number of users playing.

Agreed. If game x has 500 players on Xbox and 250 on PC, it should show as 750 on the games page because the only reason it has less players on PC is a lack of exposure. The game would get more popular if sessions on all devices contributed to the games page’s figure.

If a game is popular on one platform it deserves to be in the popular sort, regardless of what platform mostly contributes to the overall figure. Unless of course the game is not available on the particular platform.

I agree with OP but not with the amount of users playing on Xbox because the Xbox users do not play with the other platforms; they’re on separate servers.

EDIT: and if that game isn’t supported by that given platform, it shouldn’t show up on the games page so that’s another edge case to consider

Whilst this is true it would still lead to the inconsistency OP mentioned. If a game is really popular on Xbox it should be shown as popular on PC imo

But then you have the issue of people not having mobile compatible games dominating popular because they are popular on PC. Separate counts is the best way to do this imo

This is true, but I said

so mobile users would only see the most popular games that are also available on mobile.
Its a tricky thing to get right, the inconsistency is annoying but we may have to live with it

Popular sort should still be platform specific imo. Everywhere else can or should display all players.

You imply a person will be honest about their compatibility since there is pretty much no downside to saying you are good on all platforms

I didn’t even consider that, good point :stuck_out_tongue:

There’s only no downside to lying about compatibility on the “Popular” sort, and possibly the “Recommended” category (I don’t know how that section sorts games). None of the other categories involve number of players playing, so why limit that information?

Currently, to see the true number of players in a game it has to be either one of the last 6 games you or your friends played, or one of the last 6 most recent games on your favorites. Why can’t I see the true number of players on ALL of my recent games, or ALL of my favorite games? Even the “Friend Activity” games give platform specific info once you leave the homepage.

If I can see the true number of players in a category on my homepage, why can’t I see it when I press “See All”?

There should be a second text below #players in orange that shows how many people are on YOUR platform. I’ll try to make a visual of this later
