Continuously Crashing after Updating Studio (mainly as soon as I start playtesting)

Since I’ve updated to macOS Tahoe, ROBLOX Studio has been continuously force closing and then saying it “quit unexpectedly”. This usually happens mainly when I press play to test - however it has happened once when editing a script as well. This is becoming a really annoying issue for me - I’ve cleared the cache, restarted and reinstalled studio and continue to have this issue.

Beta Features Enabled:

  • Dragger QoL improvements
  • Improved Find All/Replace All
  • Improved UIStrokes
  • New Studio Camera Controls
  • Next Gen Studio Preview
  • UI Drag Detectors

Edit: I think this is because of the new release - 694. This is because I downloaded Tahoe a month ago, but a day after updating ROBLOX studio (11th oct) is when I started having these issues.

You should provide crash dumps and logs, as stated in How to post a Bug Report

Salutations!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
A ticket was filed, but as the reply above indicates, we need more information about it.

Is this issue still happening at your end?
If so, please provide a crash dump or a log so we can be able to locate it right away!

If you need assistance or info on which info/files would be relevant to investigate this topic or how to get them, please refer to the How to post a Bug Report - Bug Reports - Developer Forum | Roblox

Thanks for understanding!
Have A Nice Day!

Would you like me to DM it to you personally? And if so how would i do that - do i just click your profile and press “Message” to make a private chat? Or can I post it to that logs channel - also once it is fixed is the crash dump erased from the channel?

Salutations!

Thanks for following up!
Once you open the Logs/ Crash Dumps / Other Bug Files page, clicking the “Message” button let’s you write a Message on a private chat that only the Roblox Staff and you can see.

Don’t forget to tag me here once you’ve sent the Files.
Have a nice day!

Hey there!

If I’m not mistaken, when using the $TMPDIR it will show you the Folder where the Crash Dumps are, you can sort them by “Last Modified”, and that way you can identify the most recently created.

If you are unsure of which file to send, try reproducing the Crash once again, and that should generate a new Crash Dump.

I’ll stay tuned!

As far as I know, yes.
The file’s only purpose for Roblox Staff is to identify the root of the issue.

Since the message is only between Roblox Staff and you, the file is secured, and you can ask the file to be deleted afterwards in the DM you send to the Logs/ Crash Dumps / Other Bug Files page.

Thanks!

When I do this the file is not a .DMP file. When I do it the way I said it was created when I crash and ends with .DMP shall I try that?

Yes.
If the .DMP file matches the date in which the Crash occurred then yes, send that one.

I have now uploaded it. Please let me know if you got it. When you receive crash dumps how long does it usually take to fix the issue?

Thanks for following up so far.

I see the file. I will assign this to an Engineer to continue the investigation.
The time can vary depending on the issue, but the team will reach out to you once they have any updates on this matter.

Thanks once again for your understanding and your patience.
Have a nice day!

Thank you so much!! Will you let us know if it is fixed in this post? And just to confirm - where I sent it - only staff can view it? Sorry if I seem so paranoid aha

Hi there!

Yup, Only Staff can view it.

And yeah, we’ll come back with any update or news we have about the issue.

Although I suggest removing the Solution Tag and only adding it once a fix or another outcome response arrives, since the Solution Tag activates a timer that locks the topic after a certain time.

Thanks!
