I would replace it with a new icon. Here’s an example I made.

This is a bug. Plugins are not intended to have the thumbnails places have. No additional changes are needed other than removing these from the plugins that have them.
I’ll try and make a puzzle piece styled logo when I get home.

Auto-generated thumbnails were only intended for places, it is a bug that they are showing for plugins. We will fix this.
