Counter DMCA Reinstations Often Are Delayed/Never Happen

When submitting a counter-DMCA request, Roblox’s Rights Manager agents often respond claiming that the asset in question has been reinstated. However, in multiple cases, the asset remains permanently deleted, showing no change in inventory, Creator Dashboard, or catalog visibility.

This creates a misleading resolution trail where the system shows the DMCA dispute as “resolved,” but the item itself is never restored to the creator’s account.

Expected behavior

Expected Behavior:

Once an agent approves or confirms a counter-DMCA reinstatement, the system should:

  • Automatically restore the asset to the creator’s inventory and published state.
  • Reflect the change publicly on the catalog page or asset URL.
  • Update the moderation record to accurately show that the reinstatement was executed.

How long ago did you receive the reinstatement email? From my experience, it usually takes up to 5 business days.

I’m pretty sure the DMCA team pass it along to moderation to reinstate.

It’s been about 2 months and the item hasn’t received a restoration… unfortunately seems like items pass through this system and are forgotten about often

Hi there, when attempting to restore this asset, the moderation team encountered an issue where the asset was only partially restored (either the texture or mesh restoration was unsuccessful). This prevented the entire asset from getting restored. The team has since retried and this time it was successful, so the asset is live again. The creator has been informed on their counter notice support ticket.

If there are additional examples of this happening, please share those assets as well and we can look into them. Thank you!
