What role is someone going to receive when they join a group?
If I remove the Owner role from myself, it gives me the isBase role.
When a new user joins, what role will it give them, if it gives me the isBase role, after removing all my roles?
When I tested, it gave me the role that is ordered right above ìsBase. So, if I’d have put Admin above the isBase role, then everyone would have received Admin.
What I’d like
I wish it was super clear which role someone receives when they join a group. But, it would also be great, if someone can make it so that nobody receives any role, upon joining a group.
I’d draw the line between roles, and isBase.
If it is ever made that you can select which roles someone should receive upon joining. Then any helper prompt that will ever exist, should guide you and force you to pick a role or none at all.
Hey HealthyKarl, everyone who is a member of a group always gets the permissions of the base role. So every member virtually is in that base role.
No, you’re always in the base role, even as group owner technically. Note that “Owner” role is a user-generated role, that role could be named anything you want.
In new groups, it gives no roles at all, you’re only in that base role. In older groups that were grandfathered in from the old pre-multi-role system, it gives you both the base role and the lowest non-Creator Hub role in the group if you haven’t modified the role. We’re aware of the confusion this inconsistency causes and the Communities team is thinking about how to resolve it.
Note none of this is particularly “Creator Hub Roles” related.
