I just want to ask about the creators earnings for shirts. So I do commissions using shirts because I think its safer than waiting for group funds and never getting paid. I made a commission for 3k robux so with 30% tax, I set my shirt prices as 4286.
Now, I only receive 2572 robux instead of 3000, Is there a new update that I’m not aware of? I just got back from commission again and its kinda sad that I got deducted a lot.
Do you know how the buyer bought the shirt? If it was bought in a game you don’t directly own (like pls donate or catalog avatar creator), then you would only get 60% of the robux, as 10% would be given to the owner of the game it was bought in.
As dadev brings up, it seems like the person bought the clothing in a game (likely their own).
Normally when a shirt is sold, 30% goes to Roblox and 70% goes to the creator of the clothing.
However, when the shirt is bought in a game, 30% goes to Roblox, 10% goes to the game’s owner, and only 60% goes to the creator of the clothing.
60% of 4286 is 2571.6, which rounded up is the value you received (2572). (The remaining 428 goes straight back to the person who commisioned you)
If you had sent the user a direct link to the shirt (and didn’t them to buy it through a game), then:
For all intents and purposes, the buyer has deliberately ripped you off and subsequently, to an extent scammed you (by not paying full price for the agreed upon services). You can try contacting them saying they need to pay the remaining amount (428 / 70% = 611.4 robux), and failing that you can try reporting them for scamming (some discord servers, like hidden devs, has a scammer reporting feature. It doesn’t help you get back what you lost, but it does result in the user being blacklisted from the server and hence being unable to scam other people this way).
To avoid them being able to do this in the future, the only thing I can think of that is safe from their method is to have devproducts in a game (as devproducts can only be purchased from that specific experience, so you don’t have to worry about them being able to purchase it from their own experience)
I recommend group payouts for commissions because buying gamepasses or shirts will always deduct a percent of Robux. So for future reference whenever you do commissions again use group funds those are instant and don’t tax you when paid out.
