CSG Error Repros for the Staff :)

Adam stated in his earlier thread that he appreciated bug repors, repros of CSG errors, etc, but I feel that the CSG Info thread wouldn’t be the best / most organized place to post it. Post your CSG errors models/attached files (use .zip – .rbxm files don’t attach properly) for an easy place for the staff to access them :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ll go first:

[li]NEW: Faces missing after union[/li]
[li]Cannot union two primitives at common angle, regardless of selection order[/li]

[li][strike]Random step; was able to save as a model, but not publish the place that had it in it.[/strike][/li]
[li][strike]Two parts of a step – can’t union together[/strike][/li]

[li][strike]Ctrl+F crashes studio if Unions are present; another invisible union[/strike][/li]
[li][strike]Starting test server with unions crashes studio[/strike][/li]
[li][strike]Ctrl+F crashes studio if Unions are present[/strike][/li]

Will edit in reports from other people to make it easier on the staff to find errors.

I can’t publish my place with the unions I have in my game, but I’m not sure which union(s) is causing the issue.

I was able to publish fine, though I am having trouble on occasion with unioning parts

Try a few times.

It took me 3 times to publish mine.

Upload the issues as models and link them here. The issues aren’t going to solve themselves. Adam and the others are wanting us to send the issue unions to them – do them a favor and help out!

Do you think Adam would want my well which went half invisible after I negated and unioned parts on it, saved it, then opened it back up?

He said he’s working on invisible unions atm, but it couldn’t hurt – go ahead and upload it.

You mean setting Transparency to 1? What do you mean?

Sometimes when you union something, you’ll go into test mode/play mode and it’ll be invisible – even if the transparency is 0. You can’t take it apart or anything, and you have to redo it.

Well, now my game will save. So I guess my other post is irrelevant.

I made a thread about a glitch I encountered, so I linked it here. I think it mainly happens when you’re building really big things with CSG. I finally got my model done after building it small, and scaling it up after the shape was finished.

Are you guys aware of this problem?

It only seems to cause problems with local servers.
You can launch the local servers fine, but when ever you try to add a player to this server, they shutdown 100% of the time.

Hmm, this seems wrong. Got a level that you can repro this on? You can put it in confidential tags and upload it.

Bad News: I can repro your issue and I totally thought we prevented anything like that from happening.

Good News: Looks like it’s already fixed in the update that will come out this Wednesday.

Does this fix cover the publishing problems with a game with CSG models in it?

Is it just me, or do places with unions take a lot longer to publish? I assume it might have something to do with the abnormal file sizes.

My game grew by 500KB after having only about 30 unions in the game.
