Custom R6 rig not holding Tools correctly

I’m trying to create a custom R6 rig for my 2D-style game, but I’ve run into an issue where the rig does not hold Tools correctly. Instead of holding the Tool with the hand, it appears to hold it from the shoulder.

In the image below:

  • The red cube is the character
  • The yellow parts are the arms
  • The Tool appears attached incorrectly near the shoulder

I’m using a custom cube-based character with an R6 rig. The Tool equips successfully, but its position is incorrect.

What I want to achieve

I want the character to hold the Tool properly with the hand, just like a normal R6 character.

What I’ve tried

  • Checked that all parts are correctly named
  • Verified the Tool has a Handle
  • Confirmed the rig uses R6
  • Adjusted positioning manually

However, the issue still persists.

Additional Information

  • Rig type: R6
  • Custom cube-based character
  • 2D-style game

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

When you say you’ve adjusted the positioning manually, does that mean you edited the toolgrip? That’s what’s supposed to determine the position of the tool.

Thanks for replying, but I already tried what you mentioned manually and with the Tool Grip Editor plugin, but it still doesn’t grip it correctly.

What’s up @09matfiler!

If I am not mistaken, it looks like you welded parts to an existing r6 – am I correct?

To fix this I’d simply just recommending you adjust the position of the (RightGripAttachment) inside the arm of your rig like so

So it offsets it relatively to where your custom arm is :"D – if grip editor is not working for ya.

No, inside the cube are the pieces of a regular rig, but they’re hidden and poorly arranged so that Roblox wouldn’t give me problems in the future. I didn’t actually solder a rig inside it; this is everything my rig contains:

thanks for the help :D.

Ahh okay, from I can see – looks like your are actually missing a few minor things that’s why – lol

Would you mind sharing the rig here so I can quickly fix it for you? :")

Here you go, thanks for your help!
