Custom Rig Help

I have made a custom rig, but it has ALOT of parts excluding the limbs. I have attached those parts to their respective limbs using welds. BUT, when I play the game, sometimes they disappear somehow, and I don’t know how to fix this. Please help me if possible!

I highly suggest using this plugin https://create.roblox.com/store/asset/1274343708/RigEdit-Lite to weld everything together. As long as you don’t have any animations already built this should completely fix your problem. All you do is just revert back to when your rig had 0 welds in it, choose how you want to rig your custom rig, and boom there you go. Use this video to learn how to use the plugin. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBdqX86Egfs

I welded using this plugin, doesnt work

It is likely related to the anchoring and collision groups of your rig. I had a problem like that and when I anchored the primary part of the model it would work.

anchoring won’t work as the rig is a custom character and anchoring it will not let me move

It will work. Essentially what you are having trouble understanding is how your own character works. I can explain this to you. First let’s start with the basics. The custom character is R6 or R15?

the rig is r6, it has multiple parts for each limb, and I need a way to attach them to their respective limb. (they all have different colours)

Okay great. This is what you need to set the properties of your R6 custom character for it to work. It matches the same properties of your own R6 character.

R6 Character works like this.
All Limbs - Anchored = false
R6 Head - Can Collide = true
R6 Torso - Can Collide = true
R6 HumanoidRootPart - Can Collide = false
R6 Arms - Can Collide = false
R6 Legs - Can Collide = false

Once you have these properties set the welds will work correctly if they are welded right. I will explain the correct welding if RigEdit and these correct properties do not work for you. Let me know if this fixes it

I think it’s because of parts spawning before welds

I definitely don’t think that is the problem here. When you are using an R6 character it has 5 Motor 6D’s inside of your Torso and 1 Motor 6D inside of your Humanoid Root Part. I am going to edit the message I sent you with the properties. I forgot the root part my bad.

What happens is all 6 of those Motor 6D’s connect your entire body together and will work properly when the can collide and anchored properties match the ones I just gave you

I forgot the root part ill make it cant collide and see if it works

If it doesn’t work this is how you weld your R6 custom character manually.

1 Motor 6D inside of root part
Part0 - root part
Part1 - torso

5 Motor 6D inside of torso

Left Hip
Part0 - torso
Part1 - left leg

Left Shoulder
Part0 - torso
Part1 - left arm

Neck
Part0 - torso
Part1 - head

Right Shoulder
Part0 - torso
Part1 - right arm

Right Hip
Part0 - torso
Part1 - right leg

This is guaranteed to work but you will need to adjust the positions of the limbs yourself when doing this. It can be scary lol

WOW now it mostly works, but sometimes, not very often, all extra parts disappear. (im new to custom rigs actually)

Definitely check the manual I just gave you and make sure they are correct. Extra parts such as accessory handles you have to attach them using Part0 - Handle Part1 - (The limb you want it to be connected to)

I don’t think it matters anymore as it almost never happens now, and one thing: whenever it happens, it’s when I fall down into void.

Awesome! I’m so glad I could help. Everything I sent should be referred to if any other issues happen. Congrats on building your first custom rig! I wish you the best of luck with all of your future custom rigs to come
Cheers
