A player in one of my games has recently reported a critical bug to me regarding DialogChoices. In this game, you can talk to NPCs and have various dialogue choices to bring up menus and chat with them and for a while the system was working.
However, a client has reported a problem viewing dialogue choices after chatting with NPCs. Because of this problem, they are unable to progress past certain points of the game. This problem seems to have affected every game with DialogChoices according to them. It also doesn’t affect everybody because I didn’t encounter it myself and a few other players reported it was working normally. Since this is a roblox pre-built feature, I cannot fix this without overhauling the system.
Thanks for reporting.
So far we weren’t able to reproduce it.
What’s the name of your game that has this issue?
That’s likely unrelated, but dev console says that some assets were failed to load. Can you please check if your dialog logic might depend on those sound assets to be properly loaded?
The game is called “Forsaken Sword Legacies: A New Beginning”. Here’s a link to the game:
The dialog choices have no sound effects hooked to them but there is a script that detects when you select a dialog choice. I believe if that fails then it would put an error in the console due to it being a local script.
Like I’ve mentioned, it doesn’t affect everybody because neither me or my other developers have gotten the problem so I don’t really know what’s happening.
Also, here’s a little video of the problem in action:
