Do I need to get back into scripting or can i stay on break?

So I’ve been scripting for 8-9 months but then I took a break mid august. It’s been around 4 months now since my break. I was tryharding scripting alot for those 9 months, every single day I just scripted and that was it.

I became an intermediate/advanced scripter, so do I need to get back now? or can I stay on break for 5-6 more months because I have exams and what not coming up.

It would be helpful if someone with experience in taking long breaks from scripting could answer.

I’ve been programming for 7 years, and the breaks will naturally come to you if you’re not inspired or motivated to continue. You understand what your best intentions should be, and what’s more important in your life, so ultimately your decision is up to you.

I always have time to code, no matter where I am, and I’m very grateful that I can have an opportunity to do it almost all the time. There will always be moments where you can start programming, and you can always continue. Exams aren’t moments where you can continue, so it would be more important to study and get those done first.

But understand what your brain is saying deep down, too. If you have thoughts of continuing and want to continue, but you aren’t continuing, there’s some underlying problem that you can’t see. Maybe coding is too tough for you, and you don’t want to do tough work. Finding solutions to your own problems will always bring you forward, even if sometimes the solutions take a long time. I’m still finding solutions to my problems and seeing programming differently every day.

If you get inspired, keep the inspiration burning, don’t just let it swelter. Acting on it when you first get it will keep your motivation going, and you’ll keep making great things. Don’t forget that there’s always a path to go towards, so if you ever feel lost, there’s a solution just around the corner.

hello chicken man

although i od not have a large amount of work experience when it comes to “taking breaks from scripting”, i would say this;

if you don’t feel like it, don’t do it
remember, unless you’re being forced by a higher-up (which i assume you aren’t), there is no need to force yourself to do it, unless you really want to accomplish something in a specific time

if time isn’t pressuring you, just take a break, remember
forced work is worse than passionate work!

I program in my head, I program in my sleep… there is no walking away… :rofl:
