Does my pet upgrade system comply with gambling/random progression policies?

Hello Developers and Roblox Staff,

I am developing a Roblox game with a pet upgrade system and want to ensure it follows Roblox’s policies on gambling and random progression before launch. I kindly ask for feedback and confirmation regarding its compliance.

Here is a summary of the system:

  • Acquisition: Pets can be purchased with Robux or earned for free through in-game play.
  • Upgrade Cost: Upgrading is completely free (no Robux or significant in-game currency cost).
  • Success Rate: The upgrade has a 70% chance of success (RNG).
  • Failure Consequence: Failed upgrades do not remove, degrade, or negatively impact the pet in any way.
  • Limit: After 3 failed attempts, further upgrades are temporarily disabled for that pet.

My main concern is whether the random progression element, even without monetary cost or negative consequences for failure, could be interpreted as gambling under the current policies.

I also have one additional question: Would selling an “upgrade reset pass” (developer product) that resets the failed attempt counter be compliant with the policies?

Could you please confirm if this system is in compliance with Roblox’s Terms of Use and Community Standards? Any insight or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time and assistance!

Hi,
Your game will comply with the policies as long as the currency for which you purchase the upgrade is not obtainable for robux.
