Dresses being wrongly categorised as Bodysuits, hurts revenue

Apologies, since I wasn’t sure if this was the right category for this! And there’s very limited ones in which I can post.
My dresses are repeatedly wrongly categorised as Bodysuits, I’d appreciate if one of the Staff could look at it and provide a fix. Additionally, I’ve seen that this issue returns despite fixes so I’d like to know how the change can be implemented for good. Thanks!

This is a common but extremely frustrating issue with Roblox’s automated marketplace categorization. Since the AI tags items based on visual features, it often confuses intricate dress attachments with bodysuits if the mesh has tight, form-fitting components.

Here is the professional way to handle this persistent re-categorization:

1. Don’t rely solely on manual support tickets:
Standard support tickets often get closed by automated bots. When you contact support, don’t just ask to “fix” it. Attach the specific Asset IDs and clearly state: “The system is misclassifying these items as Bodysuits, which is affecting discovery and sales. Please manually lock the category to ‘Dress’ or ‘Skirt’.”

2. The “Keyword” Strategy:
The AI categorizer also scans your item descriptions and titles.

  • Ensure your description explicitly states: “This is a dress accessory” or “Not a bodysuit”.
  • Avoid using generic terms like “Full-body outfit” or “Base” in your metadata, as these trigger the AI’s “Bodysuit” logic.

3. Check your Cage Mesh (The Technical Fix):
If these are Layered Clothing items, the AI analyzes your CageMesh. If your “outer” cage is too close to the body, the AI might misinterpret it as a skin-tight suit.

  • Try slightly expanding the outermost vertices of your outer cage mesh to make the silhouette more “voluminous” or “skirt-like.” This visual shift can sometimes trigger the AI to re-classify it as a dress/skirt rather than a bodysuit.

4. The Community Route:
If this is a recurring problem, post this specific issue in the “Bug Reports” category of the DevForum with the “Marketplace” tag, rather than just “Help and Feedback.” DevForum bugs are reviewed by human engineers who have the power to manually override classification settings for specific items.

The cage mesh point is probably the most important part here. If your outer cage doesn’t actually define a separate silhouette from the body, the classifier isn’t going to see it as anything other than a second skin.
