Dynamic Head Positioning and Scaling Changes After Marketplace Publishing

This report concerns an issue where Dynamic Heads appear correct in Roblox Studio’s Avatar Setup, but their positioning and scaling change after Roblox publishes or updates them on the Marketplace.

The issue affects multiple bundles published under the Growth Bundles group.

Summary

Each Dynamic Head is configured and tested successfully in Roblox Studio using Avatar Setup. The head displays correctly with its intended bundle during Avatar Setup Play Test.

However, after Roblox processes and applies the update to the Marketplace bundle, the same head appears with different positioning, scaling, or proportions.

The published Marketplace result does not match the version that was configured and tested in Studio.

Reproduction Steps

  1. Import a Dynamic Head into Roblox Studio.
  2. Configure the required attachments, values, and AvatarPartScaleType.
  3. Test the head in Avatar Setup and confirm there are no validation or setup issues.
  4. Add the imported head to its intended bundle.
  5. Copy the relevant attachments, values, and AvatarPartScaleType from the bundle’s existing head to the replacement head.
  6. Adjust the attachment positions and related values until the replacement head correctly fits the bundle.
  7. Use Avatar Setup Play Test to test the replacement head with the full bundle.
  8. Confirm that the head is positioned and scaled correctly.
  9. Submit the head or bundle update through the update process provided by Roblox.
  10. View the updated bundle after Roblox applies the change on the Marketplace.

Expected Behavior

The Marketplace version should preserve the same:

  • Positioning
  • Scaling
  • Attachment configuration
  • AvatarPartScaleType
  • Overall fit with the intended bundle
  • The published head should appear the same as it did in Avatar Setup Play Test.

Actual Behavior

The Dynamic Head appears correct in Roblox Studio and Avatar Setup Play Test, but its positioning and scaling change after Roblox processes and publishes the update.

As a result, the head no longer fits the bundle the same way it did before submission.

No errors or validation warnings appear during the setup, testing, upload, or update process. The issue only becomes visible after the updated head is applied to the public Marketplace bundle.

Attached Image Comparisons

I have attached one comparison image for each affected bundle.

In every image:

  • Left side: The Dynamic Head as it appears correctly in Roblox Studio’s Avatar Setup after being configured and tested with the intended bundle.
  • Right side: The same head after Roblox processed and applied the update to the published Marketplace bundle.

The left and right sides should match, but they do not. On the Marketplace version, the head’s position, scale, or overall fit is different from the tested Avatar Setup version.

These comparisons show that the discrepancy appears during or after Roblox’s publishing and update process, rather than during the Studio setup process.

Additional Details

This does not appear to be a local Roblox Studio, installation, internet connection, or computer issue.

  • Roblox Studio functions normally.
  • The assets pass validation.
  • No error messages appear.
  • The heads display correctly in Avatar Setup.
  • The heads display correctly during Avatar Setup Play Test.
  • The updates upload and process successfully.
  • The incorrect result is visible on the public Marketplace bundles.

It appears that the Marketplace publishing or bundle-update process may not be preserving the final positioning, scaling, attachment configuration, or AvatarPartScaleType of the replacement head.

It may instead be applying configuration data from the Dynamic Head previously contained in the submitted bundle model, although this is only a possible explanation based on the observed behavior.

Roblox Customer Support has also stated that Roblox is aware of an issue involving Dynamic Heads and that it is currently under review by the appropriate teams.

System Information

Platform: Windows PC
Operating System: Windows 11
Browser: Google Chrome
Error messages: None
When the issue began: After the Dynamic Heads were first published or updated on the Marketplace

Impact

This prevents creators from reliably updating Dynamic Heads for existing bundles.

Even when a replacement head is correctly configured and verified in Avatar Setup Play Test, the published Marketplace version may use different positioning or scaling.

This can leave already-published bundles visibly incorrect despite the submitted asset appearing correct in Studio.
