Echofall - Melee System Showcase

Hello everyone,

I’ve received a lot of feedback on my melee system recently, and over the past few days I’ve been working on improving it. The update isn’t live yet, as the system is still a work in progress.

Melee combat now uses raycasting, and each weapon features a different number of animations, some have 3-4, while others, like the Sledgehammer, only have one. Attacks now function as a combo system: chaining hits within a short time window builds up extra damage (around 5–10). Combos reset either after completion or if you stop attacking for a while.

I still have additional ideas to refine the system further, and I’m hoping these changes will lead to a more satisfying experience and better feedback overall. Hope this Youtube Video Link works to showcase the system as it is now.

The Game update will be delayed because there are still a few key areas I’m working on:

  • Improving zombie AI (making it smoother, smarter, and more responsive)
  • Fixing shotguns (they’re currently broken and will be addressed after the melee system is finalized)
  • Lots of QoL

This melee system looks great! Good job on it! It is very cool! I rate it 9/10! How long did it take to make this melee system? It is nice!

Hello, I am glad you like it visually, it is hard to say how long since some days I did work nonstop on the melees and other days I did something else in my game.

Tho roundabout 20 - 30 hours including Scripting animation etc or just experimenting and doing random stuff
