[EDIT] The rules have changed a bit

The rules were crafted and approved by the admin team. Some of the rules are new, so you need to read it and start doing or not doing the things listed.

[strike]Most obvious deviance today is that no one is putting their images/videos in the spoiler tag. That’s a new rule. Please start doing it.[/strike]

Hmm, would it be okay to let us have images/videos in the original post without a spoiler tag (providing they’re not used excessively)?
Images can be relevant to a topic, especially in the “Look at this Cool Creation” forum.

It’s nice to have finally have some rules here, though.

Yeah, sometimes people skim over spoilers, but direct pictures shown; grab attention. Though, I can see why spoilers are necessary.

Admin team will discuss it at this week’s meeting.

Having been part of this forum for a while now, I could recall many instances as I read all the rules. “I see what you guys did there”, “yes definitely”, etc. Glad there are officials rules now (that I know of, at least) that, in the most part, will make threads less annoying (for lack of a better word) to read and scroll through.

Perhaps a spoiler should only be necessary for images that are above a certain size or multiple images? And maybe the rule shouldn’t apply to the original post?

Just some ideas.

Either that or our images could automatically be resized to (img size=200)image link(/img) (is there a way to post bbcode on here without it being formatted?) for original image posts and size=50 for quotes.

I’m just curious how you define “sexual/extreme language” as opposed to other language.
Most common expletives have a sexual meaning behind them and I don’t see how you can rate them as “extreme” or not

Hate language against someone’s sexuality or telling them to do extreme sexual acts. You can throw a couple s or f bombs (their origins are about bodily functions but it’s not directed to anyone) and you won’t get banned for it.

I see no reason for that post to be locked. After all, the rules require that our posts must be constructive and on-topic, and we’re all expected to be mature here. There seems to be discussion of the rules going on in here, which would be more on-topic on the actual rules thread. Remember, these aren’t the ROBLOX forums; we’re mature enough here to have rules and respect them, while discussing them in a proper manner.

The Rules thread should be clear, without any User to looking further then the Orginal post. Why ? Since the discussion can be confussing for the User.

Then they just post it again :

  • No, since the post will still exist. It is much better to have a seperate thread discuss about the matter

It’s not about questions. It’s about discussion. See: this thread. It would be better suited on the rules thread. No one is asking questions, just giving suggestions.

Because these basic points of forum etiquette have been written as rules, I now feel more enticed to break them. They’ve stopped being “things you shouldn’t do” and have become “things you must not do”. Too limiting. There’s no more laid-back feeling.

I agree 100%. We’re grown ups, ROBLOX. :frowning:

Not all of us are. While I agree that this completely destroys the laid-back feeling, I think it’s a fair trade since we no longer have to put up with crap posts.

The council of admins met and decided to make a couple changes. We read your comments here, so thanks for posting your opinions. I would like to point out that pretty much every forum has rules. As an official ROBLOX forum we do need some guidelines. We do think of this community as mature and well behaved, and you were doing fine before the rules were posted. They are there to help new users understand what’s expected, and give us (as admins) some basis for fair moderation practices.

[ol]
[li]We are lifting the rule about hiding images in spoilers. The new rule is that all images larger than 640x480 should be hidden inside a spoiler. [/li]

[li]In the Content section we softened the rule about 1-liner type responses to, “Use image-only or short “zing” responses sparingly.”[/li]
[/ol]

These changes have been reflected in the Rules post.

Can the “Moderation Review Requests” forum rules stress more on the fact that you can only file appeals for yourself and not other people? I’ve seen many threads in there about players outside of RBXDev.
