Enable new Discourse badges

Last month, the Discourse version of the forum got upgraded, which gave us a lot of new features which are great for using the forum. However, one of the new features that seemingly did not carry over were the new badges. We still have the older set here:

In modern discourse, there are a lot more. There are too many to fit in a screenshot, so go there if you want to see them. These is not really an active issue so this isn’t something urgent I’m going to lobby for, but badges are really fun to collect even if they are just visual, so I’d love to see the new ones carry over here.

Those badges exist in the older version of Discourse as well. The reason you don’t see them here is because Discourse allows you to disable some of the badges in the back end.

I would love more badges. I collect anything I think that’s cool.

What badges do you think would be beneficial for this forum?

From my perspective, and using the example of other badges from Discourse Meta that the OP shared, it could be:

  • New User of the Month: Contributing to the Developer Forum by solving forum users’ problems when developing on Roblox or using the forum, generally speaking.
  • Great Share: Sharing, as URL link, post/replies that can be crucial for creators’ workflows. Furthermore, there can also be new announcements about upcoming and/or beta features that any Roblox developer can integrate into their projects.
  • First Flag: Flagging (other words, reporting) content that does not follow the guidelines of categories, their subcategories, and the forum, which follows Roblox Community Standards. This encourages new forum users to make the forum a better and civil space, similar to what we see on the Roblox platform.

I would like to see the following badges, sorted to what I see as most to least important:

  • Solution badges from Meta
  • Reader
  • Share tiered badges (nice/good/great share)
  • Other relevant fun post-related badges (first quote, first onebox, editor, first emoji)
  • Like badges (out of love/higher love/gives back/empathetic/crazy in love)

There are some others which I don’t see to be huge (like “first flag”) but would be cool regardless. Keep in mind my rationale is mostly “collecting badges is fun” so feel free to pick and choose; I’m not really saying anything (besides the “inviter” badges) should be locked, those are only the ones that I think should be enabled again.

Most of the badges on discourse seem to be not fitting good like the “Trust Level” badges. However, i see a few badges that could fit into the forum:

There are also other ones for doing something for the first time, i would see First Flag as a good way to encourage members in some way to report bad content

Side note but i believe badges shouldn’t be only earnable in public catagories, for example having alot of likes on a topic inside Development Discussion won’t count despite having reached the achievement already
