Apparently you can only use it in sub-places, which is really really really dumb because it prevents it from being used to create custom PBSs. The intended purpose seems to be that you would give someone a copy of a template building game and then use SavePlace to save what they build, but what if I’m the one who wants to build? And what if I want the option of publishing from studio?
This would have been nice for the period of time when personal build servers were broken.
At the same time, this means server script injection is far worse because you can totally ruin a front-page game without even compromising the creator’s account. I don’t agree that this should be done.
A way to phase out personal servers though would be to automatically check the “Enable Save Place API” and insert some server script which performs the auto-saving every few minutes. Then we can finally get rid of the PBS feature but existing servers will continue to function.
