Error code 429 when launching a game from web

Whenever I join up a ROBLOX game on the WEB version, I get the error code 429,
On the APPLICATION I can join games with no issues
On my PHONE (on the same WIFI) I’m able to join games with no issues

However god forbid I log out otherwise I get the “an error occured try again later”

I don’t know what’s wrong at all as there’s almost no information about this issue which might just be some kind of rate limiting (which shouldn’t even trigger for me as I haven’t even been on roblox in the past few days)

I noticed that using a VPN does let me join games WITHOUT any error code at all.
I’ve tried setting my DNS to something else as well, I have no extensions that send requests to ROBLOX in any shape or form

On the application I was able to play any game but on the website it literally just give error 429

I’m wondering if this has happened to anyone and if yes how do I fix that?

Edit : Wait… I think that’s the wrong section… oh well

Having the same issue would love to test my game

I’ve noticed the same issue as well. I’ll include system info here in case it’s relevant for Roblox staff. Launching games in the application directly works fine while trying to do anything auth related on web or even my phone in the mobile app doesn’t.

PC Info

OS: Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 21H2 (OS build 19044.5737)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 Ti
RAM: 32GB (don’t know exact configuration, the PC was built by a family member)

Phone model: LG G8 ThinQ (running Android 11, rooted)

I wonder if there’s something on Roblox’s end causing this issue, considering it’s not just one person experiencing it?

ETA: yes, the window in that screenshot looks like an older version of windows. it’s a third-party app for themes…

I can’t confirm because I don’t know for certain but, it looks like Roblox accidentally blacklisted residential IPs on certain ISPs indirectly. This has been happening to me and it looks like it only happens when I am on my residential IP. I tried it with a neighbors’ IP and it’s the same issue. Using a hotspot lets me login. Using a VPN lets me login. Basically, anything that isn’t a residential IP lets me login.

ISP = AT&T

Can you try to log out from the client version, then log back in and try to launch a game from web again?

I have tried that as well, when you have the error code 429 when launching any roblox game, it also affect the auth system.

Logging out and attempting to log back in result in “An error occured, try again later” which is basically a rate limite error msg.

This definitely appears to be the case. I just tried it on my iPhone with wifi off, I was able to sign into an alt just fine and even turn wifi back on to get it signed in on my PC with quick sign-in afterwards. I don’t think any of this was intentional on Roblox’s part, considering the circumstances. Has anyone tried contacting support about it?

Getting the same issue, its been happening since the last service disruption. Works fine from the app but as a developer I find the using website significantly more efficient.

I’m using Firefox but the issue seems to be happening on other browsers as well since I can’t log in, getting the “An unknown error occurred. Please try again.” error.

My ISP is Xfinity

Here is the service disruption I mentioned in the first paragraph:

I also have error code 429 on the web version

Here is roblox outage page

Proof that its about the error code 429

Thats on the outage comments
There is also like a log in issue, when i thought if i went on the desktop app it would stop, when i logged in, or did quick sign in, it didnt do anything

1 more thing mobile works

and i cant use desktop launcher since i cant log in (cuz it always says Something went wrong, please try again later)

Note: i can now play roblox

This is still happening (to me), and if I try to use the roblox player instead of the website it resets all my settings.
Browser: Firefox
OS: Windows 10
ISP: Mercury

Update on this, I reached out to support and was informed that Roblox is aware of the issue and is working on a fix.

Hopefully it won’t last much longer.

Exact same, can’t even login to a different account and when I logout I have extreme difficulty attempting to log back in. Also unable to launch the Roblox app.
