Error:failed to bind to workspace

Hello! My friend (who cannot post on the devforum) has been having an issue with studio for the last few weeks where whenever he tries to open a place in roblox studio he is given this error message:
“Error:failed to bind to workspace”

Processor: Intel(R) Core™ i5-10400F CPU @ 2.90GHz (2.90 GHz)
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (6 GB)
System: 64-bit

he has tried:

  • normal studio reinstall
  • changing all possible render settings
  • clean studio reinstall
  • graphics card driver reset
  • graphics card driver update
  • graphics Card Driver clean uninstall and install

some of these would fix it temporarily, but the error message would return. This happens in any game he tries to open from roblox studio, using any method (from both a place page, the creator dashboard and studio app.)

attatched is a video

Expected behavior

Roblox studio should be opening games and running normally.

Are you able to launch studio through the actual app itself?

Whenever he opens the app he just gets this blank screen

I’m trying to think because i know one of my friends had this issue at one point or another. Have you tried deleting the roblox registries?

If you mean deleting files from appdata he’s done that, otherwise no.

Open the startmenu, type regedit to open the registry editor. Then at the top, below the ribbon, there should be a text box. Type HKCU\SOFTWARE\Roblox into that textbox, or just navigate to Computer → HKEY_CURRENT_USER → SOFTWARE → Roblox
Once you have Roblox selected, press delete or right click and press delete. This will reset all of your studio settings, which is annoying, but we’re out of options.

should he do that along with a clean reinstall of studio?

If you’ve already tried a clean reinstall of studio and it didn’t work, there’s no point in doing that. All that reinstalling studio does is reset the files for it, because your actual settings are stored in the registry editor, as opposed to the roblox player where settings are stored in a file in AppData

Alright, roblox obviously isnt the problem at this point, this has to be a windows issue.
