Can there please be some way to actually preview what a background will look like on your profile before you purchase it?
Currently, the “Try On” feature heavily distorts the image and lighting. It’s not accurate at all.

i didnt like these feature so much, because i liked when roblox backgrounds was padronized

Hi Creators,
Profile frames are now live for Plus subscribers on Roblox.com. We’ll start rolling out mobile on September 8. If you don’t see them on mobile after September 8, try updating your app to the latest version.
Plus subscribers can now choose a curated frame around their profile picture. Their frame and style can now be seen across Roblox, including your own profile, others’ profiles, game join cards, and chat. You can switch your frame at any time.
How to Select a Frame on Web
On web, frames are only accessible from your profile page.
- Go to your profile page.
- Click Edit Profile.
- Select Profile Frame, then Frames.
- Choose a frame from your inventory.
How to Select a Frame on Mobile
On mobile, you’ll be able to access frames from your profile page or the Avatar Editor in Marketplace.
- From your profile: Go to your profile > Edit Profile > Profile Frame > Frames.
- From Marketplace: Open the Avatar Editor > Profile Frame > Frames.
Changes apply immediately across all surfaces.
The starting supply of frames are created and curated by Roblox. We’re planning to open profile frames to UGC creators in 2027. We’ll share more details in the upcoming months.

When this eventually comes out for UGC, or just when you guys make more frames… will they be limited to 150x150 dimension size? I have a lot of ideas, but being limited to basically just a circle makes it hard to come up with fun & creative frames.

Hi Creators,
Starting today, Plus subscribers can create a free avatar background from a text prompt. Type a description, get a result, and preview it live behind your actual avatar. Save it to your inventory, and once it clears moderation, it’s ready to use in Customize > Backgrounds.
How This Fits With Marketplace
We built this feature with background creators in mind. Here’s how it works:
- Personal use only. Generated backgrounds can’t be sold or listed on Marketplace.
- Generation is limited. Each subscriber gets a set number of generations per month. Once those are used, Marketplace is where players go for more.
- Made for quick personal expression. Subscribers describe what they want in a short text prompt and get a background composed to sit naturally behind their avatar. We expect detailed, art-directed work to stay with Marketplace creators.
If you’re interested in building and publishing backgrounds for other players, you can apply for the Create and Sell Avatar Backgrounds on Marketplace pilot.
How to create a background:
- Go to your profile page.
- Click Avatar, then Customize.
- Select Background, then tap +.
- Enter a text prompt describing the background you want.
- Preview the result behind your avatar.
- Save to inventory. The background enters moderation before it’s ready to use.
- Once it clears, select it from Customize > Backgrounds.
Each prompt generates one result. Iteration, photo references, and game capture are coming in future updates. Earlier this year we launched copy protection for original work on Marketplace, and similar protections will apply here - using a photo or screenshot of another creator’s work to make a copy won’t be allowed.
