Extreme Lag In Studio

I’ve been having some extreme lag in Roblox Studio, to the point that it’s now unusable. About a week ago I was able to use it completely fine, and in that time the only thing that has changed is going from 2 to 3 monitors. From the moment I load into a new default project, it is very very laggy with low fps, inputs take a long time to register, etc. as you can see here.

I’ve tried reinstalling studio, updating studio, disabling all beta features, enabling the new studio beta look, updating my graphics drivers, restarting my computer, unplugging all but one monitor, changing my windows settings to give more resources to studio, changing my graphics settings to the lowest levels possible, and I’ve also disabled and deleted all local and non-local plugins. None of these have worked even slightly.

Task manager shows that my CPU and GPU are under very little load (CPU ~10%, GPU ~1%). The profiler in studio shows my CPU taking 2.7ms while the application isn’t focused, while focused the CPU goes up to 88ms. My GPU is a 4070 and my CPU is an i5-11400. My ram is 24gb of ddr4 and sits at around 60% usage because of Google, but I’ve previously tried to use it without anything else open and studio takes about 1.2gb of ram alone. My studio is installed on a Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe drive.

Any help or ideas is appreciated, I’ve been trying for a few days at this point but I’ve gotten nowhere.

Same here, I opened Studio today and got 20 fps out of absolutely nowhere. It was COMPLETELY fine yesterday. I only have 2 monitors.

Damn it, my PC wasn’t plugged in, and it was on battery saver.

Solution found: I have 3 monitors, one of them is 165hz while the other two are 60hz. I have a NVIDIA GPU and apparently either the geniuses at NVIDIA or the geniuses at Roblox (take your pick) changed something at some point making it so that if you have that setup and have G-Sync on, it (i think) artificially limits your frames extremely hard on the 165hz monitor.

So what’s the solution? Disable G-Sync for full-screen applications in the NVIDIA Control Panel, and also make sure to enable G-Sync compatible in the NVIDIA app (idk why but without it, caused a weird glitch where moving my mouse around caused the camera to skip around).

Alternative solutions:

  • Unplug lower refresh rate monitors, restart PC
  • Unplug higher refresh rate monitor, use other monitors
  • Set all the refresh rates to the same, maybe restart PC
    Or
  • Uninstall studio and accept defeat
