False Copyright Ban on My Original Asset (Automated Moderation Error)

On June 10, my account was banned for 3 days due to an alleged copyright violation involving asset ID 88254865386453 (“[GEEK TIME | +10] :earth_africa: Emote Social”).

Game Link: [ Content Deleted ] - Roblox
My Profile: Yungwzz - Roblox
Please review my account and asset manually as soon as possible — this ban is interrupting active development work.

However, this asset was created entirely by my team or legally paid for — it does not violate any rules or copy any other content.

The ban notice was generated by automation and doesn’t explain what part of the asset is supposedly infringing. This is the second time this issue has happened, and last time my game was unbanned after I appealed and Roblox confirmed it was a false report.

Additionally, I noticed this might be part of a broader issue. Previously, my game was affected by the “[Content Deleted]” search/invite bug:
:link: Previous related bug report (fixed)

This bug could be part of the same moderation system problem.

I also noticed I was still able to use the DevForum even while banned, which seems inconsistent with normal restrictions.

This ban severely affects my ability to continue development. I respectfully request a manual review of the asset and this moderation action.

Expected behavior

I expect the asset to be reviewed manually, the moderation action removed if found to be false, and the asset restored. I also hope that future false copyright reports are handled more reliably to avoid disruption to development.

i Agree very much, The Roblox AUTO-Moderation is very broken and it give false punishments.

I believe this is a recurring error in the automated moderation system.
About 20 days ago, my game received a similar ban, and after submitting an appeal, Roblox confirmed it was a false report and reinstated the game.

Now the exact same issue has happened again, despite the game not violating any rules.
The game was fully created by my team, uses no copyrighted content, and was already reviewed once and approved.

Also, earlier this month my game appeared in search and invites as “[Content Deleted]” (DevForum post: link).

I checked my email and did not receive any message from Roblox regarding this takedown. There was no copyright claim email, no details—nothing at all. That’s why I believe this could be a moderation bug or an error in the automation system.

Okay, disregard everything I said. This is a bug if your experience is being taken down automatically… for copyright… really weird

Yes, and this is actually the second time it has happened. The first time, Roblox reviewed the situation and confirmed it was a false takedown, and they unbanned the game.

I’ve also noticed many users on Twitter reporting the same issue with their games being taken down automatically. I would really appreciate it if my account and assets could be reviewed again — I’m genuinely tired of having to deal with these repeated takedowns, and I’m worried that next time it could lead to my entire account being falsely terminated by mistake.

Roblox when are you going to realize your AI moderation is not the answer

Hire. More. Human. Moderators.

After my account was unbanned, I was finally able to check my Roblox messages and saw the official notice about the takedown of my game:

[GEEK TIME | +10] :earth_africa: Emote Social (Asset ID: 88254865386453)

However, I want to clarify that I never received any email about this to my Gmail address. If this had been a legitimate DMCA/copyright claim, I would normally expect a formal notice or at least the name of the claimant.

Instead, the only message I found was inside Roblox — and even that did not mention DMCA, only stated a general violation under “Intellectual Property Violations” and referenced Community Standards.

There were no details, no claim information, and no contact email notice at all.

Given this and the fact that the moderation panel clearly said the violation was detected by automation, I strongly believe this was a false positive or system moderation bug.

As I stated before, the game was made entirely by our team using original assets. It does not break any rules.

:repeat: I respectfully request that this game and its moderation action be manually reviewed and, if found to be in error, restored. This is the second time this has happened.

I think this is probably caused again by those who abuse the Rights Manager, because someone had reported to me that many games were taken down using the Rights Manager, and they’re targeting a lot of games:

So there could either be a bad actor behind this, or there’s a flaw in Roblox’s AI… Actually, there is a way to find this out. You can either message copyright_agent@roblox.com to ask who submitted the copyright claim, or when you try to dispute the takedown for the asset via https://www.roblox.com/support, they’ll usually tell you who made the claim — they have that data.

It’s because they send 2 messages. One of them shows who submitted the DMCA and is usually titled “[WARNING] IP Violation on Roblox for Asset: 12345678”, and the other is just a standard message saying the community standards were violated. The one you showed is that one. They’re different.

A few months ago, when I got DMCA’d, I didn’t get an email either — I literally had to find out who sent the DMCA through my Roblox inbox. If there’s a real human behind it, I guess the reason might be that everyone follows a slightly different process?

Still, at the end of the day, what you need to do is file a counter notice, because intellectual property violations involve a legal process, and you have to follow the proper procedures for your content to be restored.

This screenshot shows a Discord conversation where the person mentioned in the copyright takedown (Andourys) confirms that they never filed any DMCA, and that it might have been a mistake or confusion on Roblox’s side.
