I’m reaching out because last week, my Roblox experience (built entirely from scratch with days of work and dedication) was suddenly taken down due to a false DMCA claim. Every single asset, every model, every line of code in the game was made by me. Yet Roblox removed the game without even verifying the claim, effectively punishing me for someone else’s malicious actions.
The person who filed the claim is another developer who runs a competing hangout. He has threatened me multiple times before to DMCA my game simply because he’s afraid my game is better than his. I have clear proof of these threats and harassment messages, where he openly admits that he’s done this to multiple games before, filed the DMCA with false personal informations — and that Roblox “always takes them down.”
This isn’t just frustrating — it’s devastating. As a developer with years of experience who has never broken the Terms of Service, having your work ripped away with zero verification is not just unfair, it’s professionally damaging. The countless hours, creativity, and effort poured into the game vanish overnight, while the person who abused the system faces no consequences.
I’ve already filed a counter-notification with Roblox, and I also reported the user for harassment and abuse, but nothing has been done against him. Meanwhile, my game remains inaccessible, and the system that’s supposed to protect developers is failing us.
This experience raises serious questions:
How can such abuse happen so easily?
How can someone file a malicious false DMCA and instantly take down a legitimate game?
Are there any systems, checks, or preventive steps to protect honest developers from being victimized in this way?
If the perpetrator publicly admits to filing false claims, can they actually be held accountable, or are developers left to bear the cost?
I’m not here to create drama, I’m here to highlight a critical flaw in Roblox’s system that leaves hardworking developers vulnerable. We pour years into building experiences that entertain millions, and yet a single malicious claim can erase that effort overnight. Roblox needs to implement stronger safeguards and accountability, or else developers who play by the rules will continue to pay the price.
I’d appreciate insights from anyone who’s gone through this or has advice on how to protect your work from false reports and malicious DMCA filings.
I had gotten a false report of “sexual content” against one of my marketplace items already approved by moderation last year. I had an enemy and still have an enemy or enemies who has been coming after me and trying to get me banned off of Roblox for good. I suspect it is Marley my ex-friend who tried to inject himself into my Angel Girl Brianna brand on Roblox. I have been getting false sexual content complaints and when I fight them with logic, the sexual content claims get reversed but I still suffer damage/repercussions from it.
I had to expose this problem to stop Roblox from doing it again. They are taking the word of a false report over thousands of people who seen my leaf outfits and my avatar wearing the leaf bikini outfits and not one of them acted as if I were sexual. All it took was ONE FALSE COMPLAINT and then all the sudden I am this rule breaker who must not be allowed to profit off of a falsely reported swimsuit classic pants clothing item when one person can just lie about me on Roblox. This is disgusting.
Roblox has thousands and thousands of bikini, and swimsuit items, some very suggestive. Yet those don’t ever get removed from the marketplace but they remove my leaf bikini Ghostface outfit which had more coverage than the other leaf bikini outfits, and the one with more coverage gets a “sexual content” complaint. Then they admit I didn’t break the rules but still punished me for good removing the avatar item and then taking it away from everybody’s inventories.
I am a victim of a false report and Roblox still punished me and prevented me from profiting off of a bikini/swimsuit item while allowing thousands of bikini and swimsuit items, some are really skimpy and may be sexually suggestive but they remain in Roblox Marketplace and my item is removed off of the marketplace for good.
My friend Raven Queen thinks Marley is reporting my avatar items to get me removed off of Roblox for good. I hope it is not Marley. We all suspect it’s him. The first sexual content complaint I ever got on Roblox, it was after showing my friends my UGC clothes store at my modeling show experience. One of those friends was Marley and I have Marley’s username on Roblox and evidence I will hold on to. Later on, the modeling show experience was getting hacker attacks where the floors were removed, and parts of the experience had missing parts and missing models. Only Marley had edit access to the experience last year. So, I suspect it was Marley filing the false sexual content complaints, and I suspect it was Marley or somebody he knows who hacked my Roblox account and sabotaged my experiences he had edit access to. So, I banned him from all my experiences, and I need to check if I banned him from the recent ones. I admit I have real enemies coming after me and trying to get me banned off of Roblox for good, with a real determination and all. I have dedicated enemies coming after me trying to get me banned off of Roblox for good using false reports.
So now I am having to manually export every accessory and avatar item I use and start getting my best avatars and roleplay avatars off of Roblox and had thought about importing them to SecondLife which doesn’t have lua scripting so I can’t move everything to that platform yet. I am having to seriously consider if I keep being targeted on Roblox and they keep trying to ban me and take everything away from me due to false reporting, I will probably have to go to a competing platform and hope they have a better security system for dealing with false reporting.

You’re absolutely right, when the system allows this kind of abuse, it damages trust and punishes the wrong people. I really hope Roblox looks into improving how they review these claims and adds better protection for creators like us. Nobody should lose their work or reputation because of someone else’s personal vendetta or misuse of the system.
I had the same problem, and it seems Roblox is very incompetent in this area. They don’t even bother to check if the DMCA report is legitimate. It happened to me twice. Once, I filed the report and showed proof that the content was mine. They did absolutely nothing. The other time, they reported me for re-uploading the game, even after I sent them proof that the previous game was mine and all the assets were mine. They can’t give me any explanations or solutions. I’m fed up, man. I understand.
