Feedback | BOOMERZ!, a PvP based game involving explosives

Hello to the people of DevForum! I’ve been working in this game called BOOMERZ!. This game is inspired by BombSquad with the visuals & design of untitled tag game. I found BombSquad to be so enjoyable and fun so I thought, why not adapt it to Roblox, with the famous “classic 2016” style?

I can already sense some people saying, “oh, yet another developer turning a good game into Roblox slop,” so I made things unique for my adaptation. Basically:

  • Like the original game, you fight people with purely explosives, mainly bombs. The distance of the throw depends on where you look with your camera.
  • Powerups spawning on the map can transform your bomb into other explosives (C4, Trigger Bomb, Landmine, Molotov, and Missile). Some powerups can give you different advantages like speed boost and healing.
  • The round ends when there is only one player left in the game.
  • If there is still more players alive when the countdown reaches 0, sudden death will inititate, increasing the maximum damage for explosives.
  • This game is purely free-to-play, with no plans of adding microtransactions in the future, (imo keeps everything fair)

Because my game barely has any players, I implemented wave-based endless singleplayer mode, which is basically fighting noob NPCs. The more the noobs, the harder it will get. Here is some gameplay footage (my laptop too weak to record so I used my phone)

Looking forward for some feedback & constructive criticism. Thank you!

Looks great! The game idea is really nice. In my opinion, it would be even better if you updated the player movement—for example, simply adding a dash mechanic with a 10-second cooldown.

Alternatively, you could take it a step further and focus the main gameplay on map destruction. For instance, the map could collapse, forcing players deeper and deeper into the ground, with a respawn/elimination timer. In the end, the last player standing wins, similar to the core logic of Fall Guys.

I would also highly recommend adding some monetization features. Just make sure not to overload the game with paywalls—a subtle approach is always better. It’s always good to earn something from your project rather than nothing.

As for the map, I’d suggest improving it and adding more details. I know you only showcased the template and I’m not sure what the rest looks like yet, but it still looks really nice so far!

Lastly, if you’re trying to find an audience, try making gameplay videos of you playing with someone and post them on social media. It might take some time, but you will definitely find your players that way.

the UI looks great but why is it r15 if you’re basing it off of classic roblox

Thanks for the suggestions!

I initially thought not to add this as their would be too much buttons on mobile and to make it balanced in singleplayer mode.

I added sudden death for this situation. Idk if that’s what you envision though.

I added a donation thingy for this

I’m actually posting gameplays on social media already. It gains a lot of views but it only gave me like 5 players. I wouldn’t stop doing it though as 5 is better than none.

As for the map, I’m still trying to learn map building but rest assured this will happen in future updates.

lmao I wanted strafing animations but I was too lazy to make my own so I just used R15 and Roblox’s built in strafing animations. I also think this is better so more avatars are compatible in my game.

I meant making it layered. It’s just a concept, though, so don’t mind me. You could take inspiration from Nintendo’s Bomberman and use some of the concepts they implemented in that game.

I think I’m just gonna add a map but in the form of this. Thanks for the tip

I just can’t seem to send a message to you directly. Is there any other way I can get in contact with you? Maybe because we in different age group I don’t know if this system separates to devforum

oh right probably because of the age thing. im not sure if we can still message when we’re friends on Roblox but you can try.

I just wanted to say that I’d love to collaborate and help you with the visual part of the project. I have quite a lot of experience in Blender and really want to showcase what I can do for your game.

Could you provide your email or another way for me to send you my work? Alternatively, we could connect on Discord if that works better for you.

Oh, I’m very sorry as I want to solo dev this game. Thanks for the offer though.

It’s okay, I fully understand. Good luck with your project!
