Hello! for the last 2 months ive been working on a side project of mine, and its pretty much finished, its a gardening simulator. Any feedback would be appreciated! Link here
Got lucky in that I joined the creator while he was in game and had him explain to me some of the mechanics of the game. With that said, you(the creator) should probably make a tutorial, you probably are or plan on to but just felt like getting it out there
If you're gonna test the game here are some stuff you should know
- There’s special events, like a storm, that happen which’ll give effects to your plants
- Plants with special effects will have a visual effect on them (like being sparkly)
- There’s currently 2 islands, desert and winter.
- You can find the islands by increasing your Graphics level or by traveling out far enough until you leave the area you’re in and enter the “Ocean” when that happens then will it show you where the islands are located via a Billboard Gui
- Click on the ground with a seed packet to plant your plant where you clicked
- I don’t want to say anything as if I’m the creator but the game is about growing a flower garden
The flower designs look amazing. There’s a variety of colors they can come in and each flower have their own unique designs. Do kind of wish the bushes/stems had more colors though They’re usually just a shade of dark green which makes it blend in with the ground.
The sound designs are also very nice. It isn’t too loud or too quiet and gives off a very calming feeling. Perfect for the game you’re currently making.
As for the islands, well there isn’t really much to do on them, but I’ll assume you’ll add other things to them later. One thing you can maybe add is fertilizer based specifically on that island. When the fertilizer is used it’ll basically be like a mini-event, allowing the users to grow plants with Cold effect or something. This’ll also be stackable on other events, so if it were raining and you used a winter fertilizer, you can grow Cold Charged plants. Not sure how the users will be able to get the fertilizer, I was thinking of growing specific foods (maybe the food would be related to their island) to feed animals on the island and the animals will drop fertilizer or something but that might change a lot of what your game was originally about. Heck, maybe using flowers as food could work. Or just make the fertilizer buyable, your game, your choice.
A bug:
The inventory doesn’t seem to update properly. Besides planting plants, everything else doesn’t update the inventory, so things like selling plants, collecting plants, and buying plants doesn’t seem to update the inventory unless you leave and rejoin.
Note to creator
You may had notice I bought some stuff with robux. Just wanted to say I’m completely fine with you resetting my data. They were just one robuc and only bought like 4 things.
Ran into a bug where I couldn’t pick up the flowers (they weren’t being shown in my inventory)
Edit: This was done after I used a macro to spam E as fast as possible, then after I sold it, my inventory broke
It will certainly need some brighter colours, try tweaking the Color Correction a bit. Tutorial might help players start even though it is similar to Grow a garden.
The islands seems a little too bleak to explore but I like the idea of getting different seeds in different areas. Otherwise the crop models are great.
The bug about the inventory should be fixed ![]()
Alright, ill manually give the game so brighter colors, prob changing the color of the vegetation
Also, today and prob tomorrow ill add a quest system, in which the game will encourgae players to explore the map, gather stuff, grow a specific flower with a color, and then giving it to the quest npc, in exchange for rewards
Whenever I go to sell my whole inventory (after using my macro for a bit / having alot of stuff in my inventory) the game will freeze for a second
[Tiny bug]
Found 2 new bugs:
-
The game had a lag spike and I was able to place multiple seeds even though I only had one
[I think, I might’ve had more seeds than I thought but I doubt that] -
I cant unequip stuff in my inventory
[Any item I tried equip, it wouldn’t UnEquip the last item | also couldn’t UnEquip any item I was holding]
Edit:
Here are some pictures I forgot to include -
I was going through The forums and I saw this: Feedback on bulk item selling system that causes lag spikes
I think this might help (I haven’t looked into it but I think it might help)
Could you try to recreate them and provide a video please?
Hi! I just had a little play of your game. The whole vibe is so cute! And the uis are really clean, so it seems like a pretty polished game. There’s a few things I’d def try implement:
- A tutorial. You’d be surprised but a lot of players do like having things sorta spoonfed to them. It doesn’t have to be long or too obvious, just explaining what to do will keep players engaged for longer. It’s what the algo wants after all!
- The sky during sunset is so pretty wtf tell me how u did ts

- I feel like the compass should spin based on the camera, not the player.
- The UI tweens and SFX are really nice. However, this is kinda overwhelming to look at.
It may be more worthwhile to emulate GAG’s ui layout but with this more minimalist look. Instead of having “common tulip” and “common dandelion” in the background, I think a colour indicator (grey) would be more digestible. And if you’re going to level-lock the seeds, I think maybe using a darker background (so that the seeds are less visible) would be cleaner! It looks like a lot of overlapped text right now. - I love the flower variations. It seems really engaging and makes me want to collect them all. Getting a very prime-fisch vibe here.
- I think the sell here guy is missing SFX for his dialogue (?). Doesn’t have that lil sound like the buy guy does.
- Might be worthwhile adding a planting sound cue (like a squelchy mulch sound that GAG has). I couldn’t tell what I was planting at night and spammed them all in one spot because I thought I hadn’t planted any. //edit, nvm, there are sounds. It’s very quiet. When you play zoomed out, you can’t hear it as much. It’s pretty audible in 1st person tho.
- Nice level up effects! It’s pretty.
- Might be worthwhile adding longer growth periods and a timer for the flowers. They grow very fast right now, meaning it’s a lot of walking back and forth just to buy flowers, plant them, and then immediately sell them. Probably a good idea to build anticipation for the player! Also, some more variability would be nice (size wise). I love the colour variation, but fisch and GAG are known for having comically sized fish/fruits.
- I think you’re in progress of implementing an index of sorts (maybe the journal?). Would be good for players who are completionists who want to get everything.
- Level progression needs some balancing - maybe consider nerfing the level lock for the next few plants. I’m at level 6 and I have too much money to spare that I buy out the shop and have nothing to do but wait for the shop to restock. Or maybe remove the level lock and soft lock the player with prices instead. This comes in conjunction with plants growing too fast!
- A notification that the shop has restocked might be good too!
- The map does get a little dark at night.
Overall I did enjoy playing the game and think it has lots of potential! Hopefully my feedback helps a little bit - I think I did repeat what some other devs have said here. Best of luck and lmk if you have any questions <3
Totally thanks for the feedback! Ill implent most of these changes tomorrow. Things like the restock announcement should already be implemented (hopefully I didnt break it). Regarding the sky, I change the color of the atmosphere instance dynamically. When its midnight, its pitch black, sunset orange, and so go on.
