We have plans to release a new sub-category for the new Development Support section. We are not quite sure what would be the perfect name for it therefore we have decided it was best to collect feedback from our developer community.
The purpose of this change is to be able to categorize topics such as the following:
Please remember it needs to be a name that is easy to understand as soon as you see it right away.
Here’s what we come up with so far:
- Promotion/Opportunity Support
- Advertising/Marketing Support
- Development Advice
- Marketing Support
- Game Marketing Support
Feel free to discuss best names for it. Thanks!
The dual names sound convoluted (even the one I suggested earlier). Advertising/Marketing is also redundant since advertising is marketing. Development Advice sounds like a duplicate of Development Discussion. (Game) Marketing Support is too narrow.
“Product Support” would encompass marketing in addition to being inclusive to player retention, mentality of game events, etc.
Voted for Advertising/Marketing Support that was my original intent with the post but I couldn’t find a tag to reflect that.
I agree with your points but disagree with your name choice. Product support makes me think of the Roblox product as a whole and not marketing advice which was my initial intent with the post.
I think that just simply making “Marketing Support” would be sufficient and could encompass anything relating to marketing including player retention, ads, sponsorships, utilizing twitter, etc.
Edit after father consideration I have fully settled on Advertising/Marketing Support
Retention, Revenue and Marketing?
Hello everybody, I work in a marketing & advertising department during the day. The two are different I assure you. To clear it up for you…
Marketing: Is the research of data. Say you need to find out when and how to advertise your game? You have to research the data from previous ads and see what worked the best.
Advertising: This is the actual meat of what you are advertising. The graphics, and putting it all together in a neat little package. Editing the best videos. What to put into your tweets.
You’re welcome, BSlick out.
P.S. I think MARKETING AND ADVERTISING SUPPORT is a superb choice.
So would you agree with the name of Advertising/Marketing Support?
I don’t think having a specific name is a good idea. People will be confused as to what goes there. That is where Promotion/Opportunity Support and Advertising/Marketing Support stands.
You also don’t want anything too broad for the same reason. That is where Development Advice and Marketing Support stands.
I think Game Marketing Support is the best name. People will come to this for advice on things like prices for their game, etc.
or am i overthinking it ?
Sorry I edited. Yes I agree with this, and thats what I voted.
I’m torn between Advertising/Marketing Support and just Game Marketing Support.
What about something like
“Marketing Strategy Support”
Of the options there I like Advertising/Marketing Support the most because it seems to be the clearest and most generalized name there, so at a first glance you will know exactly what it’s for.
I immediately thought of the word exposure and that could maybe be an option, something like ‘Game Exposure’, hinting towards a place where devs can talk about ways to promote their games and whatnot.
I think it’s okay because what if it’s not a game per se that you want help with. Roblox has other aspects to it too.
True, like a group, item of clothing, plugin, etc. and “Advertising/Marketing Support” could encompass all of these.
Exactly. Ad/Mrk can flow through any of those aspects besides just a game and I think that the broad spectrum it covers is perfect for this.
Game Marketing Support encapsulates advertising, sponsorship and promotion, so I’d say it makes the most sense in that regard.
My vote is for “Marketing Support”
Advertising is a form of marketing. Marketing is more than just Advertising. Marketing is the broader category.
“Product” is way too broad of a stated purpose to be useful. Anything can be a product. Who’s product? Requires too much extra context and clarification to be a useful title.
“Marketing/Advertising” is messy and redundant but it also gets the point across.
