[FEEDBACK] Low Poly Library

My low poly library I made earlier today, willing to add any suggestions you give and see what looks good.

I think it looks great! The only thing I would change/ improve on is the roof and the library sign. I feel like the color and the material and the general style of it doesn’t fit the build. Now heading to the roof I would make it larger/ taller. It seems pretty bland aswell, I would add some “tile parts” here and there for more detail. Great work!

Outside look great, I would add some detail to backside thought and in the front maybe those long windows a little wider. That my opinion tho. Keep up the great work.

Overall I think it looks pretty good, however there were three things that stood out as odd to me.

  • The first was the “Library” sign: I don’t really think the color works well with your current palette (too bright and pungent) and the font doesn’t seem to fit the design/vibe you are going for (kinda seems like you got the font out of a western movie). Maybe try a soft white color and a more modern-ish font.
  • The second thing which stood out to me was the planters hanging off of the wall- they seem overly detailed compared to the rest of the library (especially if the theme you are going for is low-poly). Maybe try making your own textureless planters made up of only blocks instead of using a mesh/texture.
  • The third thing was the bushes- when you are doing low-poly you don’t really have to add a huge amount of detail to the bushes. I would probably just using a single cube for each bush.

That being said I think it overall looks pretty good! (I especially like the pairs of bricks outlining the wall which imply the material of the wall w/out actually using a material or using a high part count, very good low-poly technique!)

I think the Library sign looks “wrong” right now because it doesn’t actually physically work. The letters look like they’re suspended by ropes, given that hey’re hanging at an angle like that, but with only one rope they would twirl around to random angles rather than staying exactly lined up like that.

This is a low poly build and cartoony not a realistic build after all.

The problem isn’t that the letters aren’t acting physically… it’s that they’re attempting to act physically but doing it incorrectly, which looks wrong.

If you just stuck them straight to the wire without hanging them off of the secondary wires it would look a lot better because it wouldn’t be in that “physical but not quite right” uncanny valley.

Adjust the sign in front ‘Library’ and make it more clear, they’re really close together. I also highly suggest thinking of another main used colour for the library walls, this will help make it more appealing to the players.

Looks really good! I would say that the text at the front i a little off kind of like a horror text. But I like the shape you have going on! Good work.
