It’s been around 3–5 months since my last update, but I’ve recently started getting back into development and decided to revisit an older project of mine: High School Cafeteria Simulator.
Before I fully commit to updating or remastering the game, I wanted to get some honest feedback from other developers and players on whether this concept is still viable and what direction it could realistically go in.
About the game:
High School Cafeteria Simulator is a casual social experience set in a high school cafeteria. There’s no real goal or progression yet — it’s mainly a place for players to hang out, roleplay, interact, and cause a bit of chaos. Think food fights, loud intercom announcements, and random moments that make the space feel alive.
Current features:
Cafeteria as the main social hub
Random chaotic events (food fights, intercom moments, etc.)
Interactive props (throwing food or trash, lockers, and other small interactions)
Coming back to development, I’m currently considering:
A partial or full remaster
Better polish, performance, and overall feel
Expanding systems like events, roles, or light progression
I’d really appreciate feedback on things like:
Does the core idea still work today?
Does it stand out enough from other hangout-style games?
What would you personally expect from a cafeteria simulator in 2025?
Hi, I haven’t played your game - that’s the execution part of a game idea that’s checked, but I want to theorize a bit about your idea itself… MAYBE that will make you focus on extracting as much fun as possible from your game idea or make you rethink its potential.
Ok, you are focusing on a cafeteria, a part of a high school, not being a whole high school roleplay game, so you have less content to work with. I guess if you are presenting only one part, then that part needs to be ON POINT. Idk what “gymnastics” and “acrobatics” that cafeteria need to do to compare against those “the whole high school experience” Roblox games, that have been around for years.
Throwing food, small interactions, passive hangout and random moments in a cafeteria may not be enough, idk.
I also thought about whether there are popular games on Roblox that also focus only on one part of a high school and I FOUND IT! 1.5k CCU right now! Bad thing that it is not in a high school I guess Well, I haven’t played it either, so idk, maybe it is in it.
Anyway… you may try to model the success, take inspiration - you may find other proven games that focus on one specific area and how they make that area fun to play in.
Personally, I can’t think of any idea rn on how to make a cafeteria more fun. For now, a cafeteria, for me, just doesn’t have much of something to make it fun… Mind you, FOR NOW!
Who knows, maybe you may be the one who will make it successful.
