Feedback on 3D models

Hi! I just wanted to ask some fellow 3d modelers what they think of my 3d models. Feel free to give feedback or constructive criticism!

Creation #1: Untextured M16

Creation #2: Ice Cream Cone

Creation #3: iPad

Please tell me what you think.

Thanks!

  1. The rifle looks pretty good. Maybe try to make the magazine look like it’s not part of the gun though. Next time you can probably push yourself a little more to add extra details, because overall this looks good.

  2. The ice cream cone looks a little too basic, especially when you can see how well made your gun above was. There was definitely some things you could of done. For example, if you wanted to make a waffle cone you could of continued to make it smaller and smaller with a pointy end at the bottom.

If you wanted to make a regular cone, you could of made it more detailed with the size proportions of the cone. It would actually be fairly easy to do if you used your “E” shortcut key in Blender to extrude a models face in edit mode. I provided an example to better explain "detailed size proportions."

  1. The iPad looks like an iPad. Not much I can critique there.

Summary: I think most people find making an iPad and Ice Cream cone extremely easy. However, making a plain and basic gun like that is often very difficult for beginners. I think you have potential to make good in-depth 3D models but you should push yourself to at least try and add more details to the props your making to get there. You can definitely do it, it’ll just take more time. Also, I assume if you plan on shrinking those objects down (specifically the ice cream cone and iPad) those extra details wouldn’t really matter.
